The other thing Thomas Sheridan talks about in the book is that Narcissist is the term THEY PREFER to be called because it sounds so much better than Psychopath, and he's not about to INDULGE them in any way with what THEY want. Makes sense to me.
I agree awareness is critical, I lived it for 15 years and like you didn't even know of the disorder til a day before I joined this great site. It almost did destroy me, it took me for a hell of a whirl, I was devastated, and here I am still standing upright without drool running out of my mouth, lol.
I am not past it yet. I need to admit that to be true to myself. Indifference will come, all of the books say so, if I am willing to do the work.
My goal is happy, joyous, and free! This site and especially people like you help me everyday.

They say for us at least 18 months. Given a normal relationship they say one month for each year...I don't know the workings of the formula; however, if we were to say thre months for each step, that would be about right...for me, I'd say 12 months to get past the CD then back and forth through the rest...LOL
But on a serious note, I'd say it was a good six months before the fog really lifted.
But you know, we have feelings, they are valid and we are human...thank GOD we have feelings because if we didn't that would make us....
