Sad to say, I believe I actually said a version of that quote to my N. But it was something like, "I love you and you love you so we have a lot in common". Now, it was said as a good-natured joke when he sort of apologized about talking so much about himself. But still. How funny is it that's how he probably really viewed the situation!

I remember one day he asked me how my kids were then before I even had a chance to answer he started talking about himself. Then a few minutes later he asked the same question again, not because he realized he didn't let me answer but more like he forgot he had already asked once and was just on "auto-pilot". Not sure he waited for the answer that time either.... It was like he knew he HAD to ask a question about me once in a while but it was not sincere and he couldn't care less about the answer.
