Red flags?
Hi everyone,
Haven't been here in a while - hope, everyone is staying strong with NC.
I've pretty much gotten over my ExN - actually I have completely gotten over him but the whole Narc-phenomenon still lingers.
I really need your advice now though.
My biggest fear is that I'll fall for another narc - the last one has left me pretty scarred and makes me question things I normally wouldn't question.
So I have met a new guy who seems to be amazing in every way - we aren't dating yet, just getting to know each other. He is the complete opposite of my ExN in many ways. For example, he did me a huge favor but did it completely without boasting. He writes in full sentences and says what he means. His past relationships seem normal to me so far, he's not bitching about his exes. So technically, I am pretty sure that I am not dealing with a narc (and all my past relationships weren't narcs either except for the last) but I am still freaking out he might be one.
The reason is that he hasn't really been asking me how I was when we were chatting. I do feel he is listening to what I am saying but I am getting a slight feeling that he likes to talk about himself more. Which is not that big of a deal, I am pretty egocentric myself without being a narc. But of course it's made me wonder....
Obviously it's too early to tell but is there anything I should be looking for that would be an early sign of him being a narc? I know what narcs are like but I also know they are good actors.
I hope I am just paranoid, because I really like this guy.
Any advice is appreciated!
