Shall i go back??

I have been with him for 17 months - more off than on, he lied from the beginning to cover his coke habit. Now i know about his habit he says he only takes when we have fallen out (which i think maybe true) he is 53 yrs old. He is due in court next week for harassment towards me. He has done this to two other women previous. He gets angry frustrated and insecure if i dont answer phone messages straight away which seems to start the abuse.

When he is good he is good, when he is bad he is bad....he says he is never going to use coke again if i have him back
and will never abuse me again. He has put so much effort into trying to get me back constant messages, calls, he never gives up...17 months he still declares he loves me and only me. I do know he has been in sexual contact with others but only when we split (i think). IS THIS ALL NORMAL? do i give him another chance? i love him....and feel so lost without him, but scared at 53 i am losing my most important years...HELP
