Why We Should Be Joyful

I just posted this on onwithmylife's post about feeling sad in the aftermath. It's a story that helps me feel less sad when I get in that despairing mode:

I think the saddest thing about NPD is that they are torn between hating themselves (truly they do) and hating you. Not a way to live. I think we should be joyful because we loved and knew how to love and they just felt hate. A hate they do not understand. That's miserable. They are living Scrooges. But they will never have three ghosts visit them and show them how their hatred for themselves and others made their lives so empty. Our lives are not empty. We can feel. That means we're alive. They are dead. That's sad.

I read this little story somewhere but I don't know who said it, "A young boy proposed to a girl, but sadly, she rejected him. However, he was not sad, and his friends asked him "Why aren't you sad...?" The young boy replied, "Why should I feel sad? I lost one who never loved me, but she lost someone who really loved her..." Amazing quote on love and life.
