The Ten Commandments of the Self-Involved
The Ten Commandments of the Self-Involved
You've all been witnesses to my rants here so I'll try to keep this one brief.
For every virtue we admire in others, and strive to apply in our own lives, the NarcoPath is the polar opposite. Where I see an extremely cheap person- I see evil. Where there is rage, there is evil. Where resentment seethes and is nurtured is also a place of evil. Where pity is evoked and manipulation of others is paramount- there is evil. And I truly believe where pride runs amok and self-centeredness reigns without check- there is the seed- the very core of the NarcoPathic personality.
(For the rant of pride/self-centeredness being at the root of evil see forum topic 'Cult of personality': http://www.lisaescott.com/forum/2012/04/20/cult-personality-or-step-away...)
Pride is the Mother of them all. So, I share with you:
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS OF THE SELF-INVOLVED
1) I am the lord my own god.
2) I shall serve nothing other than me.
3) Everything in life is but a graven image (reflection) of my needs and self-interests, all things revolve around me.
4) I shall lie as it benefits me, and deny it when it benefits me: I shall not be caught lying.
5) I shall remember that every day is supposed to be a Sabbath day: I work only when I have to, and even then, I will try and observe my own personal rest at every opportunity.
6) I am both mother and father; all shall honor me and uphold my self-esteem
7) Murder is OK, if done for the proper reasons that I agree with.
8) Adultery is OK as long as it is not my spouse doing it in ways I find objectionable.
9) Stealing is OK as long as I'm not it's victim.
10) I shall covet whatever I want and use whatever means I can get away with without penalty to accomplish my every desire.
