STDs...

I am not being alarmist at all...just practical. Anyone who suspects they have been cheated on should probably get tested for the usual STDs...most anything transmissible and common can be cured by a simple week of anti-biotics...but often there are no symptoms.

The practicality of course does not negate the feelings about this, but at least you are taking control and care of yourself.

And if he knew he had these diseases, there are often legal remedies.

STDs

The creepiest thing is that even if he knew he had a disease he wouldn't believe it. Just like he didn't believe I was no longer fertile because we had waited too long to get pregnant. "Oh, honey, you're young. I'll let you know when I'm ready to have a baby. It will be fine."

STDs

Ugh. Yep. This thought has been looming the whole time, but especially now I realize I have to do this. I am so terrified but I know I have to. Thanks for the reminder.

Word.

Just went to Planned Parenthood last week. Going in for the results on the HIV later in the week, but no call today = negative on the rest. Thank goodness. Not worried about the HIV so much. He took care of himself very well, I suspect. After all, it is all about him. Nevertheless, I will be happy to know. I have also decided to be abstinent until I get engaged. In a healthy relationship. A healthy wonderful relationship. Sex can wait - masturbate! :P

I went

abstinent for almost a year after leaving the exN. It was wonderful and very necessary. My whole life had been so sexualized, I just didn't want to think about it at aaaall for a long while! And after being with someone who was so sexually twisted I needed time to decompress and also figure out what normal is and what's right for me. I broke it for a healthy relationship with a genuinely good man. I feel so lucky that I got a clean bill of health STD-wise.

I agree we need to look out

I agree we need to look out for our health. I know I just had a complete check up a month ago to make sure my N didn't give me anything. I'm extremely lucky he didn't! Thank God!!

proof he knew

There are indeed very few ways to prove that he knew he was infected. A girl I knew in college picked up a guy in a bar one night when we went out. He had been talking to me at one and of the bar, and I blew him off...something creepy about him. He later started talking to my friend, turned out they were from the same childhood neighborhood... and they had sex that night. He called her the next morning and said cryptically..."hope u like my present..." and hung up on her. A short while later that month, she got violently ill and was diagnosed with herpes. Luckily...and I say that loosely, she knew his name, knew he had been in the military, and was able to sue him based on his medical records there showing he had been diagnosed years earlier. Something like that...a doctor bill, pharma records, etc. Can objectively show a connection. Not easy.

Been there

I am 52 yrs old and have never had any STD disease. Until this year! It's not bad enough they cheat on us but then do it w/o protection. They are as bad as the skanks they are with! He gave me an STD that he denied and said "well how do I know who've you've been w/ in the last 2 yrs?" (Had not been w/anyone except him in over 4 yrs.)I told him & his mom if there was any other SOBs name I could turn into the state believe me I would. His was the only one!Told him he was going to be responsible for the med bills cuz if we had we been in a monogamous relationship...like i believed or had he got tested the yr before I would NEVER have gotten an STD! Had over $1100 in medical bills. Sent him a certified letter stating this and never got a response. I then decided F HIM! I'll bite the $1100 med bill. Knowing he would NEVER own up to it anyway. He thinks he got away w/something. LOL! He doesn't realize I got away from him! Oh and I contacted a lawyer about this. Was told unless he KNEW he had an STD and purposely gave it to me there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it. And we know a N will never admit to doing any wrong.

this is a must must

this is a must must must....I would recommend everyone to have a complete check up. I had to do this twice with my exN. I still have testing for HIV every 6 months. Its so common for the Narcs to have more than one sex relationship at one time. Its also common for them to visit the whore houses so if there is anyone concerned they need to get that appt. right away. You dont have to have solid proof of there cheating. If your with a Narc the chances are 99% that they ARE. Please lady's take care of your health first. xooxoxo only one way to go...Forward (tm?)

Just do it

Luckily, I didn't have any. After I realized how much he'd been lying, I couldn't take any chances. I will never forget sitting at the Health Department, waiting to be tested. It was one of the lowest moments of my life. You see, I let my insurance lapse because he promised he would put me on his policy as soon as we were married. The Health Department was free. Better safe than sorry.

I had to do the same thing

I had to do the same thing twice. It is the lowest feeling in the world. I actually cried that i didnt learn the first time but that i would put myself in danger a second time! Risk my life and my sons life over him. This is now something i will carry with me forever. only one way to go...Forward (tm?)
