Something I don't understand

I am a music lover, partial to blues, jazz, r & b, especially a long sensuous guitar serenade. I think in order to enjoy any type of music, a person must have an openness in their soul (empathy) in order to feel what the musician feels. The walker loved the same genre of music I did when we met & we went to many concerts together. So I'm wondering, how is a narc able to enjoy something as personal & intimate as music if he has no soul.

I ask this question about books as well. walker was an avid reader. Now, I know when I read, I make a connection with the author. But if I have no ability to connect w/others, how could i enjoy a novel?
