I teach in an alternative setting and have some students who can be verbally abusive and defiant at times. I learned this tip from a seminar I attended. Keep an actual Qtip handy as a reminder to:

Narcs are disordered. They will treat everyone badly in the end so QTIP! It really helps me to maintain clarity and let it go.
