PTSD wierdness

One of the things that's changed about me since my 2 Ns is my vision. Overall, it hasn't returned to 100% but it gets really bad when I have stress-induced headaches or memory flashbacks. Everything is completely blurry. And I've always had 20/20. The wierd thing is that I've always been one of those people who loved to have the lights really low and just candles going. It was so soothing. But now, for some reason, I can't do that. I have to have more lights on (and pretty bright sometimes) to reduce the tension in my head and make my vision better. Not lights glaring in my eyes, but back-lit lighting. ''

Does anyone have this issue? I read something on here that someone wrote about getting their vision back to normal between 1-2 years after being narc-free. Is my vision issue normal with PTSD?

Of course, it could be just getting older (I'm mid 40s)...so maybe I just need an eye exam (and glasses). But this wasn't an issue before the Ns so I'm just wondering if there's a connection.

anxiety causes vision problems

Yes I have this intermittently. It's due to my traumatic brain injury and Atypical M.S. from all the PTSD and abuse. http://www.wellsphere.com/anxiety-article/can-anxiety-cause-vision-problems/625392 That article may help. Another reason I am SOOOO strident with ALL about going for therapy with someone who GETS PTSD! ~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Pathologicals only discard the best, most precious of gems of people... not the worst. Boy...the connections just don't end, huh?

Wow. I figured it had something to do with my N relationships and PTSD, but this pretty much says it all. Obviously, since it still persists, I need more help. I'm planning on talking to my therapist next Friday about whether she "gets it" (narcissism) and whether she's the one I should go forward with to deal with my PTSD (despite her credentials in this area). I heard back from Alan Rappoport and he charges $225/hour but is willing to talk to me about reduced rates. I don't really qualify for that, I don't think. I've got a few names from Sidran I can follow up with if I can't light a fire under my current therapist. It's obvious that I can't keep going the way I am. The PTSD isn't going away on its own. I am better than I was 10 months ago when my 2nd N left, but there's serious physical issues that still linger. If my current therapist doesn't get that...she's gone. And I start all over with a new one. Ugh. Thanks Barbara. As always, You're a wealth of information!

have you tried EMDR therapy? I hear that helps too. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Pathologicals only discard the best, most precious of gems of people... not the worst. They despise the strong, principled, decent & honest. Their discarding of you is then their highest commendation of your worth!" - A.V.

EMDR

Thanks Barbara. I've done some research this morning to find therapists in my state that provvide EMDR therapy. There are several options within my ins. network. I'm not sure what it is exactly and how it works, but at least I have options. Thanks for pointing me toward this.

My vision went downhill

My vision went downhill since the narc but my eye doctor says I'm at the age where everyone starts needing glasses. What really upset me was those first few weeks after the d&d, my left eye was seeing everything slower than my right and flickering. That passed.
