Narc bosses

Help. Not only did I engage in a romantic relationship with a narc(nc and now long over thanx to you guys) I now am dealing with narc boss/partner in a restaurant. I left, am "allowed" to gain entry to retrieve my belongings wed. A big ol narc boss.A thief, liar,cheat,gambling addicted former coke dealer scumbag and that's putting it lightly. Getting to know this freak it all began to unfold and his behavior was abusive and violent. Tantrums and screaming. I'm going to be broke now...but I feel a sense of relief not to have to be around him anymore. I need your feedback and support. Is it just my misfortune to have to deal with this type of person in my waking life?
