Inside the Mind of a Psychopath - This is truly scary

I read this (very long but so worthwhile) and was absolutely petrified and found myself empathising with the victims. Then I thought, hang on a minute Dee, that was so your life with the ex-P - now tell me what that says about me?

One thing it does teach me is - never, ever, ever, ever fall for another sob story.

this is so relevant, spinning you're right. knowledge is power, I am so fortunate I have found this site! it has truly helped and I think the biggest thing for people who are going through what we are going through is the support from people who UNDERSTAND it! and have been through it all. thanks for the interesting read uklady, remember. we are narc free :)

It is karma in our lifetimes

We don't have to wait for our Narcs to be reborn as snails, fleas, lice, or worms. The HIGH frequency of IBS among Ns/Ps (it is scientific fact, not merely fanciful speculation) shows that YES, karma happens, and while we're still very much alive. The ex-Psych prof always complained about tummy aches.. ironically, I believe it. God DOES know the way to a man's heart (if he has one) is thru his stomach!

Jeez!

This is amazing! Not only did he drink alot of tea- I have tons of tea left here but he was ALWAYS in the bathroom and always complaining his stomach was "uuggy". I would ask him if he had ibs. He never said yes or no. He said he had an ulcer. This is just amazing. Every day I read here I just can't believe my eyes. Wow ladies. I'm actually going for some test tommorrow. My doctor thinks I have developed ibs from all the stress.

thanks..i reckon she has been a victim then...i realy got the needle reading this....this is written as if by a physco, how realy thinks he has the power to be all those things....it made me want to scream...and about eating the chillis cos i have no taste or feeling....that was rubbish...every narc /pyhsco i know is a drug addict or alcohlic......so how clever and unfeeling can you realy be ..when you need something to kill the pain so badly...thankyou for this uk lady, but i hated its concept...

I have laughed so hard at this!

This is pure class!! "I like to eat massive 12 inch subway sandwiches with so many chillies on that a normal person would not be able to eat them. How can I do that because I have NO taste and more importantly I have NO FEELINGS." My ex used to literally pour dried chillis into dishes. Maybe his entire sensory system was at a lower level than normals. He also used to drink TONS of coffee and eat LOADS of sugary stuff. He was wired!!! I was worried he was going to explode from all the chillis, caffeine and sugar. Actually I should just say I hoped!!! I have nearly wet myself laughing!

The Boys in the Bland

Wow, if my ex-Psych prof ate chili&drank coffee, I'd have to pinch myself.. it would be surreal. It's probably stare in shock&awe. He always went for bland stuff... like bagels with cream cheese, junk food. If it were sugary or salty he'd eat it... but those are primeval characteristics. We're wired for junk food (unfortunately) He claimed he had IBS, that his stomach was sensitive to spicy food (yet he lives in New Mexico, where chili is part of life) My Narc grandmother has IBS too. The ex-P drank LOTS of herbal tea&ate bagels. Always bland, always the same thing. And... when he said his father was diabetic, turned out he wasn't lying.

AWESOME! But this is all true

AWESOME! But this is all true stuff, and it is scary, and makes you re think a lot of stuff you went through, the more I read the more I seen myself in the situation. I didn't like what i was seeing as I was reading , even though I lived the nightmare so blindly!

My ExN has IBS now too! He now also claims to be intolerant of dairy and gluten. Oh, and now he follows the blood type diet. I can't even keep up with all his dietary weirdness.

had colitis and so lost his entire colon,interesting the connection of these men had, I was the main one there for him through the whole ordeal and we wer enot even living together,did it all for him with no thanks from him.....

Narcs and health

I've been reading the diaries of Sofia Tolstoy. The ex-Psych prof would compare himself to Leo Tolstoy (and Leo was an EPIC Narc)... and Leo was incredibly self-destructive. He would NEVER follow his doctor's orders, and Sofia was always nursing him back to health. His doctors would tell him to quit being vegetarian, give up the pickled cabbage, but he'd do so anyway. The fact that Leo might have been an alcoholic could be a contributing factor. Sofia was constantly nursing Leo back to health, but he'd accuse her of having "animal love" for her children when she wanted them to be healthy&safe, and was coldly indifferent to one of his many children was ill. One of Leo's sons became seriously sick... and Leo basically blamed him for it. This son eventually died. Ns/Ps expect to be nursed back to health... but if you're the one who's ill, forget about it. I was in a Narc workplace. I had a female coworker who would call in sick ON ANYTHING, she was always sick with something... but when I came down with food poisoning, she thought it was full of LULZ. Narcs tend to disregard their health. It's almost like they have a death wish.

IBS is common among Narcs

Really. It comes from emotional repression. So when a Narc says he has IBS, he might actually be telling the truth... WTF... no wonder there's cognitive dissonance. When the ex-Psych prof told me his father was diabetic.. his father was mocking quack "mind cures" (ironically, they're from Massachusetts, home of Christian Science, and female Narc Mary Baker Eddy claimed she cured with the mind).. while discussing his diabetes. His father has the type of diabetes that comes from sleeplessness&stress. Somehow, I UNDERSTAND. My Narc grandmother has IBS. She's cut out fresh fruits&veggies from her diet, so she goes for junk food. My mother has something similar (my mother had Narc parents) The IBS comes from poor eating, stress, usual factors. The constant adrenaline. The body goes into overdrive&gets overprotective. The ex-P also had alcohol issues... because he might've spent most of the final D&D drunk.
