Hoovering, not?

Hello everyone, I hope this finds you all healthy and some what happy.

I know that a hoover is not a compliment, and I am at 3 months no contact. However, I am curious. Because I keep reading everywhere that the XN, will hoover at some point, esp. during the initial breakup. Mine is a long story, but in short..I moved FAR away from my XN, to be less physically vulnerable to his seductions. He was fine and dandy for over 2 years with long distance. He surprised me with a beauiful 3 diamond ring for our tenth anniversary. And asked me to marry him. I was elated. He said he was OK with me moving further away and we would be together after his job promotion. He said he would join me in NYC, hes in CA. I was excited about our new life. Even though the last ten years were hell. I moved to NYC, and after only two weeks, he devalued me and discarded me. He said he couldn't do long distance anymore. I was floored. Why didnt he tell me that when I asked him, before I left for NY? And what about our future and marriage? He even had my 18 yr old daughter help pick the ring. He left us both. He didnt even have the decency to say good bye to my daughter whom he knew for ten years of her life. :( He has discarded me before. BUT PROMISED never again. That was after 3 months into the relationship. He said he didnt know what he wanted then, and he stayed 9 more years, and I believed him after that long. So, I decided this time, I AM DONE. I stopped all contact, and disappeared. Usually I beg and plead. Not this time. He never even bothered to contact me again. Not for an answer, attention..nothing. We been through SO much. I can not believe he now acts like we did no exist. Every day I cry, or go numb.
This just frustrates me, because all these sites say, that they hoover, or contact. That makes me doubt he is a NPD? Is he worse?
I wish I had some kind of answer.
