Drifting
Drifting
I read a great article in Good Housekeeping this weekend called The Happiness Project. The article talks about "drifting" in your life which means you focus more on what you SHOULD do instead of doing things that are fulfilling and make you happy. It talks about being guided by other people's expectations and not what means the most to you.
This article hit home as I continue to set boundaries with people. The N was just the BIG wake up call at how depleted I was from overextending myself trying to fix everyone's problems. I was lost long before he came along.
I sat down and really thought about what I enjoy. Cooking popped into my mind even though I have a busy medical practice and work full time. This week, I am going to make time to try out one new recipe.
I suspect a lot of us are busy doing for others but not ourselves. We need to refocus on what makes US happy because it wasn't the N. And it isn't toxic people who use and abuse because we are doers and have a hard time saying no.
You're right I am an artist I
what makes us happy
Boundaries - the ugly, naked, need a shot of Botox truth.
