despicable me - Narc

Did anyone think the main character in the film is a narc?

Constant rejection/abuse from mum
Has grandeur ambitions
Thinks hes a genius
lives mostly alone
anger & irritable
has difficulty loving
Abandon kids, then goes back to them

What i hate abt these movies is that they make u believe that such people can be changed, when they so cannot.

Three little girls and their love

Curing Ns/Ps in the movies/entertainment

In the famous story of Faust, he makes a deal with the Devil so he can relive his youth, and seduce a woman solely for the purpose of dumping her. Marguerite (Gretchen in Goethe's version) ends up, despairing, killing her baby and being imprisoned. In the end, Marguerite's prayers lead to Faust's redemption. I found "A Beautiful Mind" triggering a year after the D&D. It was waaay too familiar. I'm glad I didn't see it at the time. A mentally ill professor is cured by his former student/wife through love. Real life is more complicated. John Nash's wife divorced him because of his schizophrenia and paranoia. She even considered marrying another professor. He had gotten in trouble with the RAND Corporation for having sex with men in public restrooms. When he received the Nobel Prize, he didn't make a speech in honor of his wife... but said he was in it for the $$$. In an odd way, I find "Beautiful Mind" validating. The ex-Psych professor isn't a genius by any stretch of the imagination... I don't see a Nobel in his future. Marrying a mentally ill professor is waaay too much trouble. And I'm not Jennifer Connelly.
