Competitive lying

I know this is a silly thing to feel torn up about but here goes.

I won a small running comp a few months ago. I was struggling for cash & said to a mutual friend if I won the money, I'd give it to my kids who've done it tough. So I win, I email the narc & he said "wow, you really must have wanted the money". There is a good chance he'd been told what I said.

He then went in to to me he'd just done a 10k run with a friend. I thought it odd as he's not a runner & while not impossible, I just found it strange a mon runner could knock out a cheeky 10k like that. I am a runner & find it isn't that easy.

I brought it up with the friend 2 days ago who said they have never run with him. So essentially he lied, presumably because I'd won the comp.

Was it to impress me, compete, downgrade my achievement? Now HE'S not talking to me now, not sure why. But if he decides I'm worthy of his contact in the future, do I call him on it? I have it in black & white, so he can't say he didn't say it. Or do I just let it go? I feel like I've been punched. It's such a stupid thing to lie about.

Meanwhile he's ignoring me, but his son is blowing up my email. Bizarre. I don't really want to chit chat to an 8 year old boy.
