Chameleons

Are Ns like chameleons. Do they just morph into different personas at different points in their lives? My STBXNH always talked about the different times of his life as his different personas. The country boy, the city boy, the corporate man, the ect. He "becomes" these different people, and the people in his life at the time support these different personas, or are parts of these personas until he morphs into someone else. The GFs play a role in each of these personas. Has anybody else experienced this behavior? Do your exNs describe their lives in this manner? I was part of the "family man" persona. Where is the core of these people? It is so abscent. It is like they were costumes and have props. I know there is a core in there, but it is buried so deep, or it is so lost. I am just curious if this is a common description.

Mine had many, many masks.

Mine had many, many masks. He had the corporate salesman mask, the professional cage fighter mask, the bad boy mask, the family guy mask, the sweet mask, the evil mask (which come to think of it wasn't a mask at all), and the moral mask, he actually prayed out loud every night before bed. Disturbing evil. "Cry now because you lost him or cry later because you have him."

"Cry now because you lost him or cry later because you have him."

hell yes

Ns are hollow - therefore they are "anyone their prey wants them to be" or "anyone that fits getting most out of a situation." Psycho-Boy told one friend of mine the most OUTRAGEOUS lies about himself. She actually believed him until he stuck his foot in his mouth. He told another friend of mine the complete opposite. When I called him on it all he'd stop talking to me for weeks. They aren't HUMAN, mallory. THEY ARE NOT HUMAN. THEY ARE THE FACE OF EVIL. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Free articles & information for abuse victims: http://abusesanctuary.blogspot.com Effective Coaching for Victims of Pathologicals http://one2one4victims.webs.com/

Very True!

Mine has many personas. Recently we went to a ribbon cutting on a building he supervised being built and someone said some really nice things about Meanie, but what struck me odd what them saying, "Meanie has the patience of Job." HA! I looked at him and said, "WHO are they talking about?" I know him better than that. But he had to act that way for 6 months while that job was going. That's a long time to wear that mask. I believe it though, just wish I'd got to experience this Job guy. Another weird thing Meanie does is talk about himself in the 3rd person. He says things like, Meanie's sorry. See Meainie's not such a bad guy. Meanie just wants some attention. I could go on and on, it's weird.

speaking of the way they talk...

Is it just mine or did anyone else's do the baby talk thing?? Like, a LOT. I'm pretty sure it was just manipulation. He'd say something ridiculous in a cutsie way so I wouldn't (or 'shouldn't') get annoyed, I'm guessing. Maybe that inner 5 year old saying 'look, it's me, this is what I am!' He'd even act like one...I'm sure he thought he was just being playful and fun. He would DIE if anyone knew about this little habit. Mr. Mature, responsible, respected adult would be crushed if the outside world knew this and a lot of other stuff, I'm sure. LOL, I'm giggling just thinking of it.

Oh yes, they often refer to themselves in the third person. It's quite comical actually. It shows just how important they think they are. Remember Bob Dole used to always refer to himself in the third person during his campaign. It's such a narcissistic way to speak!

LOL, we always used to joke

LOL, we always used to joke about that..."Well Bob Dole thinks"....what a nut. N athletes are notorious for that kind of thing as well. There is some funny group on facebook for people who talk in the third person, I remember looking at it on March 3rd...3/3 was talk in third person day.
