A friend pointed out that I might not be missing N at all - it might just be the cat I miss and I can get a new cat. rofl. I think she might be right. He hardly ever slept with me - but the cat did.
I am getting a cat or two today. One grandchild has named her "Daisy" unseen and four of the grandchildren agree that that is an excellent name. (Actually, one is only 2 and so she just smiled.) If I get a second cat, I guess I will have to take another poll. :) There are ragdoll half-sisters available - same daddy but different mommies. I'm not a cat snob - but they have been bred to not be afraid of children. I have had cats that hide under the beds until the grandkids leave. lol. I would rather have them greeted at the door.
While I didn't wait 18 months after the final D&D to date (I learned my lesson after that), my roommate's cat was AMAZING! Her cat was so sweet, so humane, so filled with unconditional love. Cats are a rebound relationship worth having.
I couldnt live with out cats , im my darkest days of recovory my cat was always there . I would talk to him im not ashamed , id tell him all about the narc and the terrible things he did and how i felt , in a way my cat was an extention on therapy.Im guess im very lucky as my cat doesnt go far , he is very predictable and i can tell you where he is at all thimes , mostly on the bottom of my bed licking his butt lol .

Get another cat. And put any potential boyfriend through the "cat test" before you get too involved! Have him come over and see how the cat reacts. I swear, mine pegged CharlieSheenWinning the narc AND another dude who turned out to be a psychopath right away. Hated them and wouldn't go near either of them. My current boyfriend and my guy best friend who is also wonderful? Cat is totally relaxed around them.
I swear they know better than people do!

We lived together for 5 years and he would not allow me to get a cat, even when I professed that I was horribly lonely (XN is a workaholic so I was alone most of the time).
I'm currently waiting for the purchase of a townhouse to go through. As soon as it does I'm getting a cat! :D
