Anyone else find iMessages cannot be blocked?

So I went on myVerizon.com to put the N's number in to be blocked, even though I don't think I'll hear from him again (he wants me to leave him alone so I don't expose him to his multiple OW). Anyhow, on Verizon it specifically states that iMessages cannot be blocked, just regular texts (SMS). I guess because iMessages (iphone to iphone) use data and come through a different way, from what I've been researching. Has anyone else tried blocking someone with an iphone and the iMessages still come through? Just curious if there is a way to 100% block all messages. Also, because once when N told me "that's it, you're blocked!"I continued to message him and it said delivered, then he responded (since I pissed him off).
