Aftermath.....

After math (or still alive after being choked by two men that I loved)

I’m still alive,
The memory of your voices yelling “I’m going to kill you” no longer causes my spine to shake with tremors, and that fear I felted, no longer takes me into that childhood abyss.
Instead, the morning sunrays that are peeking through the blinds, are welcoming me to live.
(In spite cowardly men, the rays shine through)
Another day, I’m alive. Lying in my turquoise-ocean sheets, I’m smiling like the Cheshire cat, and
I feel my spirit glowing like the irrescendent rays that fill my bedroom.
I hear my spirit saying,
“You are on the yellow brick road to the Oz within your soul.
It’s always been there, the journey has it twist and turns, but you are making progress.
No obituary was ever posted for you,
No local evening news asking for information for a tall Latina woman missing. She was last seen wearing red ruby shoes.”
I clicked those rubies,
I clicked
And I clicked.
Now I’m home in my turquoise-ocean sheets, smiling like the Cheshire cat, creating my own Wonderland in my life. I hear the murmurs of my soul,
“You’re alive, so breathe it in.
Breathe in deeply.”
