1 year later

Other than an initial 1 month (max) love-bombing phase, I was constantly devalued, confused, raged at, given ST, discarded, etc, that it was hard to tell exactly on what day the last discard occurred. I knew it was around this time last year. I work with exN so I've been LC mostly and actually NC since early June since I haven't bumped into him at work. Well, guess what? He was kind enough to "remind" me that today is the 1 year anniversary with a text and it was so true to narc form it was laughable: "did you think of me on my birthday?" (it was end of last month)

Why, yes narc! In fact, I did! I thought of "you", to the extent, that I looked back at the pain I was in when you discarded me like garbage. How I felt like I wanted to die when I came across this site and there "you" were, in stories everywhere!! I would start a journey of learning about people like "you" and learning about "me". It has been an year of mixed emotions and ups and downs but I can say with certainty that my life today is so much better than it ever was with you, even when you were on your best behavior. I owe so much of my recovery to this wonderful site that I donated money for someone to attend a support group -- on your birthday this year!! Last year, I spent that money on a nice romantic dinner for you -- we started out fine but you had to rage about something by the end -- not so atypical narc behavior, I would come to find out. What a waste that was. So yes narc, I did think of you but not in a way that you would have wanted and you'll never know because this text isn't business related and therefore DELETE - NC.

Thank you so much to the mods and all of you that have shared your stories and thoughts. You have all helped me so much!!! I was in such a dark place when I arrived here -- I would have never imagined being able to feel so much hope and happiness again :). To those that are struggling -- NC and time will give you clarity on what he/she is and the opportunity to take care of you. Best wishes to you all!!
