ICU

I like to think of this board as the Trauma Unit and ICU. When some of us come hear our emotional injuries are so severe were not sure we are gonna make it.

The Doctors and Nurse run to your aid applying oxygen, and IV's. Once it looks like you are gonna live they try to maybe see if you can get out of bed in my case I couldnt get out of bed the first, second or even third times that they tried. Im feeling though now that I can get out of bed. Im walking very slowly and a little hunched over but I can get out of bed.

I think I might be able to be moved to the main floor soon (the other board) where I will get some rehab.

Im really pissed at the drunk who crashed his car into me causing all of these injuries but if Im gonna get back to normal Im gonna have to do some work in rehab. It wasnt my fault that he crashed into me but if Im gonna get back to normal Im gonna have to keep doing those painful exercises you do in rehab.

You are crackin me up girl! I've never seen anyone so happy to find out they are codependent LOL but I get what ya mean it is a relief. I'm not ready to leave to floor just yet but soon. I think I'm just digesting my diagnosis for a spell. Now the question becomes how to overcome the codependence???

Rehabber

Yeah, someone please get a padded room, some fingerpaints for me too - I am definitely a candidate for that plus the rehab. And I probably scare the crap out of everyone else in here too. Lol

Good one soi

I can see you're getting your sense of humor back, big time and this is a good thing. Yes, my dear it sounds like you are ready for rehab. Come on over, we're all waiting for you. You have been doing so much good work lately. Asking great questions and getting ready for your new life. Go girl and I agree being with, staying involved with, and trying to get over a PD is an addiction to me. I have often referred to my relationship issues as my addiction of choice and the steps help us to break free from this addiction once and for all. Keep up the good work, you are on your way!!! Thanks Goldie. I had a

Thanks Goldie. I had a moment this week of pure paranoia feeling that the Narc was gonna come back months from now and do something horrific to me. It made me feel like I should text him and make nice with him but I resisted. I know that feeling came from my codependence and the urge to control. Thankfully I made it thru the urge and resisted. I have to admit Im still a little scared because that is completely out of my control In real life I really am a jokster and usually happy go lucky the Narc turns me into an entirely different person " a shadow of myself" Hmm I just thought about that.. I turn into him the shadow of myself. The dark side of me.

I do remember being in the Truama Unit and some people standing over me saying can you tell me your name. In and out of conscious I said sick of it. They said sick of it do you know what happened. I said no not really. They told me sick of it you have been in accident with a hit and run Narc. In a groggy half dead voice I said Ok whatever that means....

No not a dream. Just an analogy reflecting on this last five months. Blueeyes I am happy to report that I don't feel sick anymore most of the tension in my jaws gone now. Its been very slow for me but I'm getting better. This is just a funny analogy I came up with. I guess its really not funny but you know what I mean How are u sweets?

SOI

Your sense of humor always makes me smile. :-) I remember the very early days after my hit and run. I thought I would never recover, I really didn't. The sadness was crippling and I thought it would always, always be there. Since finding this board, I am starting to believe that I WILL be fine eventually. Better, even. Your analogy is perfect. The thing I try to remember is that recovery isn't a straight line. Some days I feel good, some days I don't. But, I never feel as bad as I did in those first days.

While they were doing

While they were doing surgery to stop the bleeding it was determined that I suffer from codependence but that couldn't be addressed until they stopped the bleeding. Ha Ally glad you appreciate my sense of humor I actually cracked myself up with a narc hit and run LOL

A new way of looking at rehab

People tend to associate rehab with drug&alcohol addictions. What you are using as an example is physical rehabilitation, like how people learn to walk again after an accident. It's not so much as a breaking a habit as learning to live again.
