The Garbage Can

I am new here. After lurking and reading for many months, I have come on board. What made me take the plunge and finally join this forum is the fact that my ex-N actually asked me to drive over to his house and put the garbage can in his garage. We were together for two decades, but I moved out over 2 years ago and are now divorced. "No, I will not be interrupting my day to go to your house and put the garbage can in. Actually, I do have a life outside of you, your chores, your garbage." It's so absurd it's hilarious, with a bit of creepy thrown in. I am thankful this forum is available since obviously there is a great need! I have made huge strides since divorcing my N, but there is always a new twist he throws at me.

When you neglect to answer

When you neglect to answer their phone calls or text long enough they no longer believe they have these 'rights'. If you must because of children, etc... there is the perfect response that someone else here posted a long time ago, nothing sends the message better than just a very simple 'k'. the end. then of course you don't comply. do this often enough and it will teach the lesson. almostlydia

This is a beautiful response! Another friend suggested I respond, "Noted." Then, of course, no need to comply with the absurd request. Thanks for the support! It is mind-blowing to think that he actually felt entitled to asking me to put his garbage can in, and even foolish enough to think that I would follow through on his request! Paisley

wow. i have had the exact

wow. i have had the exact same thing happen with my x right after he divorced me.... seriously. i posted it under 'look what the most minimal contact will do' he askes me to call the bank for him days after divorcing me. i said 'no, we are not married anymore. i'm not trying to be rude, just setting a boundary. have a nice day, though.' his response? 'this is a good example of why i divorced you' two days later i got a text saying 'sorry for that email, hoping u have a nice day' then, after that, we were supposed ot be good old friends. i'm not supposed to be angry... just all forgiving and in need of his love. FUCK YOUR X HUSBAND

Setting boundaries is hard with people who are entitled to so much more than us normal folks, huh? The other day he brought the children to counseling, where the counselor has clearly posted "No food or beverage in the waiting room." The children know this and don't ask to take snacks or drinks. Yet Dad walzes in and the kids have drinks and bags of snacks, and Dad himself is snacking away. Why wouldn't he? He is above the rules that the rest of us slugs have to abide by! Laws, too! And court-orders! He is that special!

Above the rules

The ex-P was into propriety, he reprimanded me-publicly, reducing me to tears- when I dared to engage in the "inappropriate behavior" of telling him I loved him. He was into propriety INSTEAD of morality, and I often called him out on it... especially towards the end. Sheesh, no wonder when I've broken NC (don't worry, he hasn't contacted me in a decade!) I've violated his boundaries like Sherman's march, or Attila the Hun on a typical day of pillaging. Since he didn't respect my boundaries, he shouldn't expect me to respect his. He threw a fit when I congratulated him on his engagement, claiming I was "violating" him and "imposing" on him. And for some reason, I wanted to violate him and impose him more... I was like a cougar when it jumps a lone coyote... (it doesn't end well for the coyote in Nature, it ends up as lunch)

The NERVE is a thing to

The NERVE is a thing to behold LOL!! The last time I heard my exNarc's voice was during the divorce trial. He was in prison during the trial, broadcasting live on a specially arranged speaker phone. What a dog and pony show! It took me an entire year to be able to laugh, but anyway . . . while we were wrapping up after the judge gave his decision, the exNarc had the audacity to start giving me "suggestions" over the speaker phone. From PRISON. On what kinds of things I should do about this or that mutual belonging, giving me "permission" to use his box truck. My lawyer and I just looked at each other. I said "He has absolutely no shame", and my lawyer said "No shit." So even from the pulpit of a prison speakerphone, a Narc can pontificate.

Welcome Paisley. I'm fairly

Welcome Paisley. I'm fairly new here, too. These N's are absurd with their self-absorbing attitudes, aren't they? They have absolutely no concept of boundaries. I could see my xn trying to pull something like your garbage can story. Mine actually had the nerve to get mad at me for changing the locks on my property, right after he D&D'd me. He wanted a plastic shed that was on my property. The divorce was already final, and the property was completely separated. I legally didn't have to let him take anything. However, I was trying to nice (bad move on my part). Yes, I know that no good deed goes unpunished when dealing with an N. When he asked, I told N to come get the shed immediately after work. I knew that I wouldn't be there, and I wouldn't have to deal with him. Unfortunately, he was waiting when I finally came home (deliberately I'm sure). N was absolutely furious that I'd changed the locks on my house, and HE couldn't go inside to get a drink, use the toilet, and blob on my couch like he wanted. We are DIVORCED, for crying out loud! Mi casa NO es su casa (my house is NOT his house). When he jumped all over me, I told him, "It's MY house. I can do whatever I want with it. You're only here to get the shed. Obviously you were trying to use my keys, that you haven't returned, to go somewhere you have no right." Then I walked into the house, locked the doors, and ignored him until he finally left. I hope the mosquitoes ate him alive while he was out there pouting in the driveway. :) The funny part, to me, about all of this is that the NEXT morning, he put all my old keys into my mailbox at work. I'd been asking for him to return them to me for weeks, and getting excuse, excuse, excuse, stall, stall, stall from him. I guess he could afford to be "noble" returning my keys to me now that he knew they work on NOTHING. lol. Just like in your story, my N seems to have the idea that, even though we no longer have any relationship, he should just be able to waltz into my life whenever his wishes, and I should melt into a subservient mass at his feet in order to serve him. Not likely to happen in my world. lol. N's really are a bunch of self-centered jerks. I guess in their twisted minds, it truly is "all about them".

That is hilarious. What

That is hilarious. What part of you moving out and divorcing his ass made him think you would be doing that? Idiot.

Manual labor!

My ex narc went on vacation with his kids and before he left asked if I would get his mail and weed his garden! Excuse me? By this time we had been together for 2 years and he didn't even hint at me going on vacation as well. When his family comes to visit they all spent most of the time working in his garden. He treats them like field hands. Blechhhh! I truly think he just likes to see what he can make people do. It gives him a sense of power when people do his bidding.
