There are over 7 billion people in the world.

There is no one 'soul mate'.

7 billion people with different genetic make ups, opinions and differing talents. Out of 7 billion people, 1 person has the effect of stopping you from functioning, why?

Does that persons opinion of you really matter that much? Why do we give that one person out of 7 billion so much power?

You arent even fighting over a person, you are fighting yourself. You built that person up in your head to be something that doesnt exist. Scoring the occasional appreciative comments so highly as validation, discarding the many insults, trying and trying to make that person fit the imagined one in your head.

Why not decide to lose this fight in order to win. So you made a bad choice, who hasnt. Save the fight for something or someone much more worthy..with over 7 billion out there youve got quite a bit of choice.
