a magnet for narcs

So, I went out last night with a friend and we had a great night.

I ended up meeting this girl. Really nice, italian, brown eyes and dark. Short hair. Exactly my type. She was respectful and she intergrated into the group my friend and I were with. She was with her friend. And we got talking and laughing and dancing. She is a clinical psychologist (irony to follow later). We all went on to a club. And outside we ended up kissing.

Afterwards we walked partially the way home and she said 'id really like to see you again. Would you like to have dinner sunday night'? I said back 'yeah sounds good'. So we exchanged numbers..and she went home and so did i, to our own houses. I wanted to take it slow and not jump into bed with her. About an hour ago, she texted me saying 'hey are you free for dinner tonight or do you remember who I am ;-)'? I wrote back 'of course Iremember you, and yeah dinner sounds good, where were you thinking'? I added another text, 'do you know xxxx restaurant? Its french and supposed to be quite nice'?

I rang my friend all excited about to jump into shower to get ready,
and I receive a reply from
her

''have to cancel tonight, ex girlfriend showed up at door. Im sorry, ill explain one day''.

To which I replied

''dont bother, I dont appreciate being dragged into a triangle, dont contact me again''.

she wrote back

'ok I understand'

I deleted her number

I am just wondering, did I handle that the right way or did my reply seem sulky and overreactive?
