Again. why no contact!

I just wrote this on another thread, and wanted to start a new thread with it now. It is a fundamental issue that we all have to deal with, and overcome. Without it, there is no hope for us to recover.

I hope the newbies understand that we push for no contact so fiercly because we know it works. We have all been new, and almost all of us stuggled with it alot. When new, we might feel we are being asked to suffer by going nc. As newbies, it feels impossible to let go in that way.

But I just want to remind you new people of one thing. Why would we ask you to do something that is bad for you? Nc isn't a punishment, or a depravation. It is a gift!

We all struggled with the idea of it in our own ways. But it is truly so simple that even an idiot like me can comprehend how to do it. It isn't a prison sentence, it is a pardon. It finally puts the past behind us. Will it be difficult? Probably for awhile. But much less difficult than being here in 6 months or a year still stuck at square one like so many do. When you really want to be done, you will go nc. Don't lie to yourself that you want to be done as you answer the phone, or peek on fb, or drive by their house. Bring those feelings here. That is how recovery works. Just like in AA, it takes only a bit of honesty, open-mindedness, and willingness. The rest will be provided to you. But without those three, you will continue to be stuck in that groove of despair! That is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me God!
