Dating Psychos Website

So I got an email today saying that someone had posted a profile for me on datingpsychos.com. It's definitely the N but I think his GF wrote out the whole entire description which says I'm psycho and have a split personality. I emailed the site person and they said that they would remove it when they got a chance. But they also said if I paid a $25 donation it would get removed for sure, a $50 donation it would be removed faster, and a $100 donation it would be removed in the next 24 hours and any additional profiles about me would be removed. So now I'm like what should I do? The only picture they found was from my Linked in profile so I removed that picture but they have it saved now. I'm not sure what to do. I am still waiting for the $200 that he owes me and it's already been like 3 weeks and I haven't received it yet. I really want to do something but I'm not sure what. Part of me says I should get a lawyer and have the lawyer call him telling him to pay and remove the profile or a case will be filed against him. The problem is that his gf is also a lawyer and I'm not sure how far she is willing to go. I really don't want to go to court and rather just end this whole thing. Any ideas?

Profile removed

Found out it was the N's Gf who posted the profile. She removed it after we sent her a C&D. Why would she put herself out there like that for the N? She's a lawyer herself for crying out loud. Does his power span that far? Wow what a weapon of choice. Meanwhile not a peep from him while she deals with a stern letter from my lawyer...dumbbutt.

Update

Talked to a lawyer. He advised that it would be best to leave it alone. Most people don't check the site and it's not worth spending money for a Cease and Desist. In addition, it is very hard to prove libel cases without concrete evidence. I do have evidence that she is registered on the site. But no evidence that she herself posted that poster. Anyway, I think he was right, though it wasn't what I wanted to hear. Regarding the money the N owes me, he also suggested it's not worth filing in small claims unless I can fully prove it, which I can't and it would end up being a waste of money. These legal matters seem to just snowball and snowball because you want to win. Unfortunately the feelings you need to be whole again will not come from the winning of a case, but must come from change in thinking patterns. I'll let y'all know how this goes!! In the meantime, since I have no control over my profile currently on the site, why worry right? :)

no

it's national so the BBB isn't the agency of choice besides they want money to handle complaints. better off spending it on a good lawyer. ~~~~~~~~~ The truth will set you free... but first it will piss you off - Gloria Steinem Visit My Abuse Website

hire a lawyer

Psycho-Boy posted me on that site. I had to take money out of my palty Social Security to have it removed. I wish I could afford a lawyer but that's extortion. http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/datingpsychoscom-c180634/page/1.html#c349981 http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/datingpsychoscom-c180634.html http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/dating-psychos-dot-com-c180307.html If you can get a lawyer and hold your N responsible for paying to have it removed... PLEASE DO SO!!!!!!!!! ~~~~~~~~~ The truth will set you free... but first it will piss you off - Gloria Steinem Visit My Abuse Website

I'm so sorry you had to see this, but I'm glad you at least KNOW it's out there. Shame on the GF, she should know better as a lawyer ~ but then again, she's likely being duped by him. My understanding is that if it's not factual, they could be in big trouble. How idiotic that the website removes it more quickly dependant on the size of donation...what a racket! I feel like it might be worth it to get a lawyer so #1 it's on record legally, #2, better to pay for a real lawyer that some sleezeball asking for you to PAY to remove your info. that someone else posted. I know this has happened to others on the site, they probably have better info. for you.

Yep!

You really want to hurt a lawyer, go to the Board of Bar Overseers--the folks who hand out the licenses. Since cyber-crimes are very difficult to prove, no violation will be found. But, they will send her a letter & inform her that a complaint was filed. And, what is more horrifying for a lawyer than anything else is a letter from the Board of Bar Overseers. But don't get the licensing people mixed up with the Bar Association which is just a social club. Even having a complaint filed will drive up the malpractice insurance premium & will remain on her public profile forever. So you have the power to hurt this woman & cost her money & do all that for free if you want. BTW . . . how do you know it was her? Maybe he did it from her computer?

agreed

anyone who holds a professional license, if they have a brain in their head, lives in fear of a complaint....it is the one way you can make an impact...some people will actually contact a board of professional registration to inquire about complaints against a lawyer or other professional before hiring them.....it is all a matter of public record...and will be divulged on request.....i agree that this is the route to go.....costs nothing.....and makes the most real impact...
