Is This Possible??!

I'll be damned if weeks/months go by without the narc contacting our daughter & then all of a sudden, he calls (I'm sure wanting to talk to her). Within an hour, she is crying saying how much she misses her grumpy daddy & wants to see him. Just out of the blue she's crying for him as if she knows he's trying to contact her...Is it possible that she's sensing him somehow??? He hasn't seen her in five months! Of course, it tears me up that she's wanting to talk to him & I didn't let her know he called for her but he would just end up hurting her with his empty promises. I hope this doesn't someday backfire on me & her accuse me of keeping them from having a relationship. Anyway, just wondering if yall think she's "feeling the narc" somehow..? (By the way, he didn't try calling again. He's usually the type to keep calling until he gets a hold of someone but I'm sure thats only when trying to get "supply".)

Grumpy Father

Is this the grumpy daddy who threw a pet across the room? And the therapist thought the child should chat with him if she wants? These guys are all so much alike, sorry if I have him mixed up wtih another. Anyhow. What good is going to come to a child from an abusive father? The trigger may be her having seen a "daddy" somewhere in real life (daycare maybe) or TV. SHe saw something she wanted. It may not be her specific, grumpy daddy but . . . a daddy. Rather similar to missing a relationship. . . but not really wanting to be abused by the grump himself.

She couldn't have overheard...

I never answered or didn't mention it to anyone that he called! Thats whats so bizaare! Her counselor thinks I need to let her talk to him & she can come up with her own conclusions about him...I don't feel good about that. Part of it is for my own selfish reasons. I don't want to see him, I don't want to see him pretending to be happy, I don't even want to hear his voice...

kids do figure it out

one of my kids (who is now 12) told their counselor just the other night: "Dad (exNH) wants me to be a mini-HIM. He only wants me to be interested in the same things HE'S interested in. He could care less about what I AM INTERESTED IN!" Did I mention I love my kids? ~~~~~~~~~ The truth will set you free... but first it will piss you off - Gloria Steinem Visit My Abuse Website

Does your son know his father's way of thinking "is off"? At what age do you think he started to realize it?

yup my kids both know he's "off" and that it's his problem. it started around 9 years old for them. Before that they just told him he was EVIL. ~~~~~~~~~ The truth will set you free... but first it will piss you off - Gloria Steinem Visit My Abuse Website
