The writings of Kathy Krajco are filled with wonderful insights, cynicism, humor, kindness, and an overall sense that the woman knew what she was writing about...that she just wasn't parroting someone else.

I was really sad to learn that she had died. Can anyone enlighten me about Kathy and when she began her website, if she was married or had children, or any other information about her? Why was she so passionate about the scourge of narcissism?

Did anyone on these Message Boards ever meet Kathy in person?

Kathy Krajco

Never met Kathy in person but she and I traded many warm, interesting emails. I considered her a friend and took her loss very personally. Never married, no children. Lived with her dog Pierre. She was in her early 50's when she died suddenly of an undisclosed illness. She taught school and tennis and wrote extensively on tennis and narcissism. She started her blog in Dec. 2005 and had a book "What Makes Narcissists Tick" out for a number of years. The book is available for download & reading here: http://www.escapeabuse.com/npd.pdf According to Kathy the 8 Red Flags of Narcissism are: 1. puts on a conspicuous display of goodness and kindness 2. damages the images of most others 3. has a history of past upheavals 4. is hated for mysterious reasons by people close to them 5. exhibits unnatural and perplexing behavior — backwards reactions to things 6. is a control freak, trampling privacy/boundaries 7. is extremely self-absorbed 8. has a hostile reaction to attention and credit given others I actually, have started blogging about them to keep her work out there: http://thestumblingblock.wordpress.com/2009/10/19/example-one-puts-on-conspicuous-display-of-goodness-kindness/ http://thestumblingblock.wordpress.com/2009/10/20/example-two-damages-the-images-of-most-others/ Kathy's father and sister were narcissists. Thanks SO much for posting a link to her book. I love it!!! I am still LMAO at the following line, when she said: "If his stomach growls and there will be no groceries until tomorrow, he'll cook and eat you without a second thought." ROTFL..... I feel like a crazy person.... my dog is looking at me because I am literally laughing out loud as I type this!!! Man I needed that laugh!!! ;-) It's like she knows my N..... he would totally do that if he was hungry.... can't make him suffer.... LOL!!!!!! Whew..... thanks again for the book link... love it ... he he he he! They are SOOOOOOoooooo frigging messed up and they have the AUDACITY to look at and treat women who are actually exceptional and way above average women and treat US like WE have a problem. WTF...... what deformed beings!!! BLAH! I'm gonna enjoy my laugh... I haven't laughed that loud and hard in over a year!!!! whew!!! Jessika

She sounded like a terrific person. I wish I could have met her. It's wonderful that she is being honored in death by her written word. Thanks, Barbara, for keeping her work out there. She was definitely a unique and talented woman. She has a gift of saying the truth in a way that sticks with you. Her passionate writings about narcissism are a treasure and I'm downloading a number of them. Appreciate the information.
