Society Celebrates Narcissism Again

I don't want to give him any publicity, but I have to vent. Not sure if you have heard of or read Tucker Max's book, "I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell," but it makes me sick that it's been made into a major motion picture movie.

The author degrades and debases women and friends, acknowledging that he's a full-blown narcissist. Somehow, the masses have been entertained by all of this and he has fans lined up down the street to greet him (including WOMEN)!

It is a total celebration of narcissism, which makes my stomach turn. Why are people impressed by this man! Men want to be him and women want to sleep with him?! They flock to him.

What does this say about our society? And now, it's been made into a movie?! There is no question that our culture rewards and breeds narcissism!

I worry about my nieces and what kind of men they're going to date when these are the role models for our youth!

famous jerks

I too loved someone famous. I'm scared to say who. His father was once more famous than the US President. The man had more land, more money and more of everything than anyone I'd ever known. Thou, he pretended to be a farmer when I met him! I did not know of his or his father's fame as I was much younger than both. My mother informed me later! Still, everyone loved being around him. I guess to be able to say hey I know him. His public famed work is actually quite good and people associate that with the person who created it. If they only knew what I know. I worked for him p/t, editing, and once he offered to pay me hundreds of dollars one day to drive only 25 minutes away to deliver an important package. Why? I asked. This was his answer: "I cannot drive on that road. There are housewives everywhere! Minivans! They all drive minivans carting around their little brats while they do nothing but harm the environment by living. Half of them are jews from NY! The other half are from NJ! I get a migraine every time I get on that road and see a minivan. So here, I'll give you $300.00 to take it for me." I told him absolutely not! This man was total psycho! And I feel ashamed now to have ever loved him, but then he was a charmer, very funny and even though he displayed this type of behavior or attitudes in front of many people, I guess, people are attracted to famous people, even if they are publicly jerks. calamity gina
