What does God say about narcissism?

2 Timothy 3:1-7
But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. ...

Sound familiar?

Narcissism is bound up in selfish ambition—putting one’s needs and desires above all else—and leads inevitably to discord, envy, strife and evil. These traits are from Satan.

The narcissist has no time for others or for God. His focus is completely self-absorbed. His life is of little value to himself, to others, or to God because he considers himself the center of the universe. He has displaced God from the throne of his life and placed himself firmly upon it.

A true narcissist puts love for himself over love for God. A true Christian is the exact opposite and puts love for God and others over love of self. God's advice is to stay away from Narcissistic people because they're only going to bring you down.

The “cure” for narcissism is the same as for any sin—repentance and a commitment to Christ as Lord. As a Christian, I want to believe that it is possible for a narcissist to become a Christian because the Word of God tells us that all things are possible through Christ. The Word of God also tells us that when we become a christian we are made of a sound mind and of peace, the very things that a narcissist is in desperate need for. But, to become a true Christian you have to repent of your ways and believe that you are in need of a Savior.

Christianity is not self-serving and it is about God, not the Narcissist. Satan himself was a narcissist. He admired himself above God.

God may cause the blind to see and the lame to walk. However, it is understood that some may never walk, and others may never see. While I cannot pretend to know the will of God in all cases, I am persuaded that a true narcissist has an extemely low probability of becoming a committed and sincere believer. Pray for narcissists from a distance. God doesn't want these kind of people in your life. It's not up to you to save them.
