"We Don't See The World As It Is, We See The World As We Are.."

"We Don't See The World As It Is, We See The World As We Are.." This is one of my favorite quotes of all time by Anais Nin. I think this quote alone sums up why all of us are here having such a hard time getting over these men that treated us so badly.

Because we know we would NEVER mean to hurt any body. We're humans that make mistakes, that sometimes do things that hurt people UNINTENTIONALLY, that say stupid things out of insecurity or WHATEVER. Bottom line is, no matter what we do, we have big hearts that are so capable of love.

Thats why whenever the Narcs come around hoovering like crazy we want to believe them so desperately, because it is so difficult for us to wrap our minds around somebody hurting another intentionally.

I also read this quote: "You cannot understand his mind, the disordered mind, because you are normal. How could you? You can believe it - he is not real, and nothing is real to him. That is his tragedy."

In that sense, THANK GOD we are unable to understand him, because that would make us disordered too. The fact that we are having such a hard time wrapping our minds around the things these men have done speaks wonders about the people we truly are.

that is exactly the lesson

that is exactly the lesson I've learned here that my confusion and depression and irrational behavior was a direct result of my "normal" brain trying to understand his very abnormal one I finally learned, there is no way for me to ever understand something so foreign to my nature. I see woman after woman asking "but, how can this be true?" and I felt the same way. I wanted to make excuses, blame myself, thought if I'd just said or done the "right thing" he wouldn't have treat me that way. Because I do not understand someone being so cruel to another human being. I will never understand it.
