Many of us have found that it is difficult to find a therapist who gets it. Below, a general primer of different approaches and theories.

When interviewing a therapist, after doing some research on your own, it is important to decide what method you think you will best relate to.

Earlier I discussed with a member who was spritual how some therapists incorporate spritual principals into their practice with a more "humanistic" approach to their treatment protocol...there are a ton of different methodologies as theories evolve.

Below is a general synopsis of the different theories. Knowledge is power and if you are going to spend money on treatment, it only makes sense that you find a therapist that you feel can relate to you, identify with your issues and treat you adequately. It is counter productive to spend years in therapy and still be in the same place...
