A quote that provoked my thoughts today

How deeply did you learn to let go? ~
The Buddha

I am not affiliated with any particular religion...I'm dabbling in them all searching for meaning; however, in looking at the bigger picture...I have noted that there have been some benefits to my "suffering" which have not completely been actualized but I can see them taking shape and form.

I believe there is a "lesson" in everything if one is open to learning.

Learning to let go to surrender is a common theme in whatever you believe...

Not surrender to circumstances and take the position of inaction...to me the opposite is true...because of our human condition, I think we struggle with letting go...not just with "love" but with a lot of things.

So today, I will try to practice "letting" go in a number of ways and try to be consciously aware...

Hugs!

michele115....

I posted this as a comment on someone elses topic. Hope you like it. : ) Being with a Narc: Once they know you love them and they feel they have you secured, they will bring you to your knees and keep you there. Even after they've left, they still find a way to bring you to your knees! I WOULD RATHER DIE STANDING ON MY OWN TWO FEET THAN LIVE THE REST OF MY LIFE ON MY KNEES!!!

Tao te ching...

I like this one.. Men are born soft and supple; dead, they are stiff and hard. Plants are born tender and pliant; dead, they are brittle and dry. Thus whoever is stiff and inflexible is a disciple of death. Whoever is soft and yielding is a disciple of life. The hard and stiff will be broken. The soft and supple will prevail.

Yes, letting go

I think that once we let go we will see a huge shift in our own lives. I know that when you let go you sort of acknowledge that you cannot change certain things and you can't control them. Letting go will actually free you from the torment of trying to make something out of nothing. As for the narcs maybe they were placed in our lives to teach us something. i don't know, but I do know that without this experience I would have never thought about getting to know me and really learning to be happy with myself. For so long I have put his needs and happiness before mine and eventually I had no idea what made me happy. Now I am forced to see me for the first time in a long time and I kinda like me right now. I haven't fully learned to let go but I am trying like hell to do it. Thanks for the thought! This is a quote from Tao Te Ching: He who is attached to things will suffer much. He who saves will suffer heavy loss. A contented man is never disappointed. He who knows when to stop does not find himself in trouble. He will stay safe forever.

Love these quotes!

Wow, thank you so much for starting this thread, Michele! I love Tao Te Ching. VictimNoMore - this is so true: "I am learning that I cannot belong to anyone else unless I belong to myself first. I must face the pain, anger, humiliation, abandonment and shame. I must look it dead in the face and see what it is, for what it is---- The past and i must let it go and move on." This is a very inspiring thread! The Serenity Prayer always helps me too: God, grant me the SERENITY to accept the things I cannot change COURAGE to change the things I can and the WISDOM to know the difference

That is soooo eerie

I posted a Tao Te Ching quote on my FB today: The Tao Te Ching says, When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be. When I let go of what I have, I receive what I need. Have you ever struggled to find work or love, only to find them after you have given up? This is the paradox of letting go. Let go, in order ......to achieve. Letting go is God's law. -Mary Manin Morrissey Looks like we're walking along the same path these days in mindset. Hugs!

Yes michele115

Seems that we have the same mindset at this time in our recovery. To be honest I am tired of focusing all of my energy on him. A friend of mine pointed out today that I don't talk about the Narc to her anymore and I was totally unaware that I haven't. I am trying to find peace in my life and Tao Te Ching just make a lot of sense to me. I am learning that I cannot belong to anyone else unless I belong to myself first. I must face the pain, anger, humiliation, abandonment and shame. I must look it dead in the face and see what it is, for what it is---- The past and i must let it go and move on. This is not easy by no means but I did learn a great deal about my shortcomings with this experience. Every experience is an opportunity to grow. Tao: People usually fail when they are on the verge of success. So give as much care to the end as to the beginning. Then there will be no failure. I think that we are on the right path. I love this book. {{{HUGGS}}} Peace!
