OT: Help me name my parakeets

I apologize in advance to Betty, who wants us mods to post thought provoking and educational topics. Maybe I can once I stop obsessing about what I'm gonna name my parakeets.

The boy is a typical green parakeet, and the girl is blue and white and yellow. She is bigger and older than him. She is definitely the boss.

They squabble and snark at each other a lot, but I did see one feeding the other from the beak.

They aren't best friends, or anything.

The female is more tame and adventurous. The little male is more timid but has such a cute scrunchy little face.

I was gonna get a cockatiel on Craigslist but the little boy who owned him freaked out on his mom but they compromised with the parakeets. What I really want is an African Grey parrot, or an emu, but it's best to start small.

Thanks in advance :) I will not change my mind and name them myself, I promise. I want them to be named by you ladies (and a bloke) here.

And no Susan32, I cannot do Leo and Sophia. The male is obviously henpecked.

It looks like it's George

It looks like it's George and Gracie three to two!! Michelle you shifted the tides!! Awww. George and Gracie :D Thanks everyone :) Perfect names for them, I never would have come up with such perfect names on my own :) Today I went and bought them two new toys for their cage. They were terrified of them and cowered in a distant corner for a little while but now Gracie is examining a silver bell and George is stuffing his face (the new organic special parakeet food is apparently a hit too). Thanks again. They really needed their new names :)

I love it!!!

And don't feel bad... I had two calico cats that I adopted. I gave them the formal names of Chelsea and Ashley...and resorted to calling them both Poca *which in spanish means small... BOTH cats were named Poca...we called them poca 1 and poca 2 but never added the numerals... It worked out well...when I called I only needed to used one name and they both came. They passed on:( Fast forward...two boys...a Tuxedo and a longhaired wanna be ragdoll... Adopted again, this time from a family outside my immediate area in the burbs... Lucky and Mitzvah. Lucky is okay, but not too many Mitzvahs in the Puerto Rican culture... Lets just say, he's gotten over the culture shock... And he's my spoiled bratty baby... So, who's to say what's in a name... Glad you finally got to name them. I think George and Gracie are two lucky birds...

OK:

So here are my favorites so far: George and Gracie Hepburn and Tracy Harold and Maude Now I need a vote. It's awkward to do it here, but I'll just have to count. Like I said I want you guys to name them, so whatever combo gets the most votes will be their names. I'll tabulate the votes tonight . . . say around 9pm pacific time. Oh and if you have another set of names that you MUST contribute go ahead :D

My vote is...

Harold and Maude. and another name pair, just for fun...Schlemiel & Schlemazel...revealing my East Coast/Jewish upbringing. : ) Or, because they are 'budgerigars,' often called, 'budgies,' how about...Budgie1 & Budgie2? I know, lame. On the new site, I hope we can post photos...it'd be great to see them. Happy naming, Briseis! -Leah

Orignally

Before Linus and Lucy and the other suggestions I made... Harold and Maude was the first thing that came to my mind...don't know why I changed. See I still gotta go w/my instincts... It's a work in progress... So to honor that... My vote: Harold and Maude

Bird Names

I kinda like..... John and Yoko. You see, John was quiet but brilliant. Yoko was pushy and artsy. But the best part about naming your birds John & Yoko is that there is a song that John Lennon wrote called... The Ballade of John and Yoko, so you get a song out of the deal too for your birds. And if you continue in the music direction, which I think is appropriate for birds, then you must also consider: Sonny & Cher

I like this too . . .

I like this too . . . unfortunately, I had two keeshonds (dogs) named John and Yoko that the Narc forced me to give to a rescue. I know they went to good homes but the names are a bit too loaded :(
