Messaged me for first time in 3 months about his pet dying WTF?

Do they have a sixth sense? Mine messaged me after 3 months of no contact. not even saying hello to me when working together....nothing.

The morning i fly out to london, he sends me a text "chook chook (his pet chicken) died last night :("

Here's me rushing to the airport thinking WTF?

I think he just needed someone to tell who would care. He knows I am fond of animals and his pets...so I just wrote back "sorry to hear that."

He wrote back "Yeah she was my favourite, I even took her to the vet (wow you deserve a fucking medal). I'm going to get a new one tonight." (everything can be replaced if you are a narc)

End of texts, I didn't send one back....but after 3 months no "Hi how are you?" or "have a good trip." Just a text about his fucking pet chicken.

He showed more emotion about that than loosing me LOL

i love it how he thinks I actually care about his little world. My cat went missing, did i text him, no?? I wouldn't even text him to tell him one of my pets died....what a weirdo.

Am i being insensitive, or is it just a plain weird thing to do?
