A little prayer for my daugher

I babysat last night so she and her GF could have a ladies night out. When they got home, they'd found my daughter's poor kitty hit by a car on the side of the road. We all just went to pieces :( :( :(

I want to go get her another kitty cat RIGHT NOW. My daughter is 27 but she is still that sweet little red head who fits in my lap while Mommy takes away the pain.

She blames herself for allowing the kitty to have an outside life. I think the next one won't . . .

good mom

'Gingercat' represents my adopted kitty who lived with us for years and years until we had to have her put down from old age.....I honor her by using her name for this web site that supports me through such adversity. She had shown such strength through surviving a difficult life until we found her that as soon as I needed a name for my login I thought of her. My adult son called me one night, very late, and it scared me to death to hear the sadness in his voice as my mind raced to all the fears parents have and then through his tears he told me his beloved chocolate lab had been hit. Of course he was blaming himself even though it was a busy road and dark, etc. I immediately remembered my own dad talking me through the loss of a pet (cancer) and how important it was to have someone close to me just understand and listen. As soon as I returned (I was away on business) I went straight to his house and gave my big strong son a hug and we cried a little more. That's what real parents who have empathy do for their children and that is what your daughter has learned from you. You are such a good mom....I'll bet the new kitty is going to be one happy little animal to have a real home.

"ll never forget what made

"ll never forget what made me adopt another kitty..I went to the shelter after my cat died just to browse..And it was overcrowded..About 50cats in cages..and none of them were moving..NONE ..I said'Hi little babies"..In a baby sweet voice that all cats love...They all reacted all lovey and meowed and got up,and rubbed against their cages.Like they were alive again...I see that in us..Becoming alive again..maybe they feel the same way as us,shocked,frozen,grief-stricken abandoned..and my voice gave them hope...It really was upsetting for me...I'll never forget them ALL come alive.I ended up adopting one soon after that someone left in a box on a doorstep in a bad part of town...Love cats>>>

Oh I am so sorry to hear

Oh I am so sorry to hear that! I just took in my brothers cat a few months ago. Im not much for cats. I think it has something to do with them being independent and not needy...lol. But I have to tell you that this critter has really grown on me. I love her and I cant imagine if something happened. I remember going through this with both my dogs and I swore I would never have another animal again. It was like looking a child. I cried for weeks! Please tell her were all thinking about her and so so so sorry this has happened. :( xoxoxo only one way to go...Forward (tm?)

I am so sorry for your loss

It is so hard when these things happen, especially when not natural! I had such a hard time getting over my dog. And now I am still grieving a little bit about the cats of the boy I dated lately which I quit one months ago. This cat of him, was my little angel, she was sleeping all night on my belly, and woke me up with kisses on my ear and nose, sometimes she even tabbed with her pawn on my eyes so I wake up and touch her. It still kills me to not have them around anymore, they were like my kids, I think I loved them more than any person I ever met. I hope your daughter finds some peace now, I know how hard it is!

Thank you all SO much. I'm

Thank you all SO much. I'm "sending" your sympathy and well wishes to my daughter too :) I wonder if there is a pet shelter open today . . . :P The road in front of the new house I'm moving into is just . . . not gonna work with outdoor kitty cats :( Or my dog. Fencing is in order. It's got all the farm critters well fenced and safe, but a little more for the dog and an indoor kitty cat or two is what's in our future. I was born a city girl, but thanks to my exN, discovered farm animals, especially of the poultry and goat variety. My city girl soul sees farm animals as no different than cats or dogs. Eating them or making them work for their living is just dumb and cannibalism. And when I lose even a little chicken, their lost life impacts me and saddens me. I (perhaps delusionally) think there is a "cat soul" that is in all cats, and if you look hard enough, you can see your lost kitties (or dogs, or chickens lol) peeking back out at you, still very much alive and with you forever. Thanks again so much for you sympathy and words. They really help more than I can say.

Pets really do become family

Pets really do become family members. I have a little Shih Tzu dog and I just love her to bits we walk miles in the forest together so I am so sorry for you and your daughter, how awful, you all must be devastated. (((((((Big Hugs))))))

I"m sorry about

I"m sorry about that:(..uggh...I keep my cats indoors..maybe good for next time..But it isn't her fault..I can only imagine the feeling..I lost my cat after 15years.She had cancer and I gave her hospice in our home for months..They are part of the family...But I adopted a little kitten afterwards because they all can use a home..A trip to the shelter will help you remember that....It won't replace your kitty but give love and life to a new one..:)

Boo :(

Sorry to hear about the kitty. It's horrible to watch them go, and I'm sure there is another fuzzy one waiting for new home, either indoors or out.
