Let's "toot eachother's horn" lol

I want to share, that today I finished a weekend course (for my job) and became certified in an imoortant course for my work.

It's something I have put off either because I didn't think I was ready....or didn't do because I was too emotionally distraught over the N and just couldn't focus.

Well today, I finished it! and yes, I am tooting my own horn and don't care if it seems arrogant, because dammit, I am proud of myself...and there is nothing wrong with being proud and sharing it!

So, to my fellow recoverees, whatever stage of recovery you are in....wanna share some of your proud moments and accomplishments?

Or, at least, share what your future accomplishments are...after this mess....

My horn has been tooted too much today and I wanna toot your horns now!

xoxo

goals and achievements

This is a great thread and there are some fantastic achvievements and goals here; successfully returning to a sport; completing an important course; spring cleaning- I think any positive step and goal helps us feel better. Mine isn't a great achievement but I worked a bit on my health afterwards. I bought a book of a 28 day yoga plan which promised to help me feel better physically and emotionally. I just saw it on a stall at a charity garden party. It was 10p. By the end of the 28 days I was much more flexible and can now even stand on my head- though this is something you have to build up to! I'm 48 so I'm really pleased with that. Not sure when it will come in handy but I think of it as a sort of symbol of defiance to my N. Lol!

Staying Strong...

I WISH TO TOOT MY HORN FOR YOU!!! Toot Toot! That is wonderful news, congratulations and no it is not arrogant or narcissistic to pat ourselves on the back for a job well done. I think many of us need to start learning how to self congratulate as well... AND my personal goal is to learn how to feel comfortable with compliments. I think society has trained us to think it is vain our vulgar to speak of our own accomplishments and the more I look at it...that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard as if we need to feel a sense of shame for feeling good about ourselves...I wonder the origins of that self defeating concept. STAND TALL AND BE PROUD! AND the heck with whomever has an issue with it!!! Unfortunately, I was very tired this weekend, and so nothing to brag about except perhaps I did well drinking lots of coffee and I made my first "unprofessional" widget! Hugs!

CONGRATS TO YOU!!! That is

CONGRATS TO YOU!!! That is Awesome! Quite frankly at the stage I am in, I am damn proud to get my ass in the shower these days, BUT I am hoping to accomplish "spring cleaning my basement." N used to complain about it CONSTANTLY, so I have been rebelling and have not done ONE thing in that basement, but that is actually my secret goal at the moment-I just never let him know that I wanted it clean as much as he did. : ) Also, want to reach "indifference to the N."

I remember those days, barely

I remember those days, barely making it to the shower....so to be honest, the days you shower and get dressed, IS an accomplishment too. Good luck with the spring cleaning! xoxo

I am proud I returned to my favorite sport

I was a multi-sport competitive athlete as a youth- I really missed being an athlete now middle aged! So about a year and half ago, when I was still with my EX N he did a silent treatment on me for a month - so on my birthday I decided to return to my favorite sport after a 35 year break! I decided to put that time to good use instead of fret about him. I stuck with it and quickly became quite good again! I am having a blast learning everything as the sport has changed alot over 30 years. I am on vacation now and about to go train and have a private lesson with the top trainer in the US in this sport. This is a huge honor that he is willing to teach me. I will probably be competing again in a couple of months. i thought it was too late to make a come back but its going great (except have to work around an old injured spot).
