Judging a book by it's cover...

I still read books, the ones that require you to lick your finger to turn the page, bookmarks and all that. I also read a kindle. So far I prefer the book, the pages. the heft, old habits and all that.
When I purchase a book it is generally the result of a review or a recommendation. But when I am browsing it is the cover which compels me to pick it up. The colors, the title, the art on the front. If there is a swashbuckling bare chested male I look, or the picture of a prescription bottle or a three some, I quickly dismiss it.
I have purchased a few that are borderline, start them and even finish them, usually my instincts are good.
So, thinking about this forum made me think about judging a book by it's cover. There are no covers,
It can not be done here. We do not know what our fellow posters look like, what they weigh, the color of their skin, are they tall or short, young or old, where they live, do they have an accent, a southern accent? All the things that cause us in our day to day life to judge. Despite claims to the contrary we all judge one another by our physical appearance. Of course there are a few picures accompanying posts, pictures that reflect pain, sorrow, sadness, even some lighthearted images. There appear to be some photos, not sure if they are the poster or a random image.
On this forum judgement is limited to our words. I find it very refreshing in a world that judges our outward self so harshly.
This annonymity has provided us all a chance to reach out and not fear judgement. Judgement here is limited simply to content, perhaps you don't like a choice of words or become frustrated, even angry. If we judge it does not go public. We are given the choice not to participate or respond unless we want to.
As a child I was judged by others for wearing the same outfit more then once a week, I was judged because I boarded the school bus with wet hair in the morning, it froze in the winter. Of course the N was the loudest judge of all and caused the most damage.
I have been feeling gratitude to this forum, I want to say thank you to the many that take the time to post, share a link, respond and not judge. Feeling free to speak even if my voice shakes.
