Lisa, love Chicago.........had so much fun there. The Water Tower, Michigan Ave, State street, etc. Stayed in Park Ridge for a bit and was in the city every day.
Scoop, I'm sort of west of London compared to you. If anyone does want to form a support group and I would dearly love to be a part of it as I feel incredibly isolated with all this!
Great idea, Happydays! I think we should start a support group for narc survivors. We can start the first one in Chicago if anyone is interested. We can then start one in every metro area once we establish how the group will work. I would be happy to facilitate the "pilot group" in Chicago and find meeting space.
I'll find a spot downtown close to the Metra train stations so people coming in from the suburbs can walk from train to meeting spot or pay for cheap cab ride. I have a meeting room in my condo building, which is in the Loop so I'll check on renting that space out.
Let's start by making it a monthly meeting and then if successful, we can run it every couple weeks or more. As I mentioned, I facilitated a support group for people with OCD and we met every two weeks at UIC and it was very helpful
I'll post it on Meetups.com. We'll establish rules of the group. It won't be a twelve step group, although I have nothing wrong with that. I just think we should come up with our own unique group, with a theme around "getting it out" and off our chests. We have to talk to others who can relate.
Let's start working on some names for it. Here's a few ideas, but I'm just throwing them out there. I'm sure we can come up with something better.

I have thought about this quite a bit and love the idea of using Echo in the name. Yet as we all know Echo died of unrequited love for Narcissus. Just thinking of the women throughout history that have lost their lives because of Narcissism certainly sends a shudder up my spine ..ie..how many were probably burnt as witches because of Narcs...shudder. So my reasoning is we need something positive as a name, something that says we are not dying...we are coming back and we will shout this from the rooftops if need be. So what I have come up with so far is ECHO RISING. Will post if I think of anything better.
I found out a fascinating fact a few years ago. I knew my ancestors were here at the time of the American Revolution. What I didn't know until recently is that one of my ancestors was to be tried in the Salem Witch Trials, but she died before she could be heard.
Do you realize how fortunate we are to have our freedom of speech today? As Nancy pointed out, a woman trying to speak her mind back then, would have been burned alive. Women in many countries still can't speak their mind or be heard or even seen for that matter. That is why it is so important for women like us in free countries to get the word out and build awareness. There are so many women in the world today suffering at the hands of abusive narcissists.
Good point that Echo died of unrequited love for Narcissus. That won't work then. I do like Echo Rising though. I love the ideas you're coming up with for group names. I love "All About Him" but I'm worried it keeps too much of the focus on him, you know?
I mean, obviously we are going to be talking about him, but I think the group name should say something about us, not them. Our group should have an empowering name that reminds women of the healing power of their voice.
I bought the domain name "GetItOutGirl.com" I think it's catchy and is empowering. We can use this website address to advertise our group meetings, as well as posting them on Meetups.com.
