I am 52 next month...and looking forward to it :-)

I love being nearly 52! why? because as the French say I am beginning to feel bien dans sa peau, which apparently means comfortable in my own bones. Yet there are still people that don't get how fabulous it is be to be older and don't realize that life is not all about how you look and what you can get from others, it is how you FEEL and how you TREAT people. If it was about how we looked and were treated then none of us would be here feeling heartbroken.

BUT I am getting a tad peed off with this ageist society...If I had a tenner for every younger woman who has said to me 'I hope I look like you when I get to your age',I'm sure they are just trying to be sweet to me and give me a compliment,it's very lovely of them or though some are a tad condescending and in some cases it has taken all my inner strength not to be ungracious and come back with some sarcastic retort, but then I am older and know better now...don't I?

Then there are the younger men who have wanted the rights of me and none of the responsibilities, not so sweet of them they are A holes, For example a guy I was dating recently said to me and I quote: 'you are so beautiful, kind and intelligent and I love your company we have such fun together but I am trying to get my head round that I am 45 and you are 51'. :-0!!!! lol. Well after I got up off the floor laughing I have demoted him to just being a Facebook friend, he is not happy about it and can not understand why,(he is frantically clicking like on my status's etc but he is not a friend in my eyes but as I am an 'older' woman I am being gracious about it and letting him think on.

Tis a youth culture today and it saddens me that in some peoples eyes female aging is a disease and I and many are experiencing this first hand. To get back on the job market after nursing my children back to health after their accidents is proving impossible and at times is soul destroying and I lose my get up and go. But I know they don't realize, despite everything society projects being older is and can be one of the best times of your life and my age group has so much to offer. As long as you look after yourself emotionally, physically and mentally and I am loving this time of my life, although do have emotional ups and down but quite honestly have learned to love myself in a of course a non~ narcissistic way and am hopefully live with humility.

Women who love, care and respect themselves and others and are honest, kind, intelligent and don't take shite can be quite threatening whatever age they are, that is why we have learned now that when we stand up to the PD's in our life whether they be male, female, partner, friend, family member etc they freak out or we are discarded, put down or lied about.

I am glad I have finally learned the lesson but am human and know there are no guarantees in life you just have to build a little corner for yourself and stop being so hard on yourself.

Love to All
