his ex messaged me saying he gave her herpes

At the beginning of our relationship I got a message from a girl on facebook saying he had herpes and had given it to her. I confronted him and he denied it and said he had a stress problem that caused sores but that they were not herpes and that he had never slept with this girl but her sister owed his brother money and was causing trouble. He made me feel so guilty and I ended up apologising. He kept promising me that it was not herpes and that his doctor had diagnosed something else stupidly I believed him. Since the split and finding out he lied about other things I contacted this girl to ask the truth. She had been his on/off girlfriend for two years and had slept with him 2weeks before I git with him. She said he had given her herpes and even admitted it to her. I am so scared that he has given it to me so I am going to the doctors to ask to be tested. How could he knowingly pass this around? I feel so dirty and upset and I really hope I dont have it. It would be a constant reminder of him and the pain he has caused me
