Dating Someone New and Wondering About an EX

I am really glad to have found this forum and site! It has been a rough 6 months. I divorced my ex husband a year ago and have had no contact for 6 months. It has been difficult especially because he has been texting me alot lately and trying to reach me through friends. Recently (for the past 2 1/2 months) I have been dating someone and it has become exclusive. The man I am dating is really wonderful and I have known him for about a year. I was very cautious about dating him and wanted to be friends first and he was ok with that. My 16 year old son really likes him and he recently introduced me to his family and they are all very sweet. Everything was fine until last night when he mentioned that he wanted to text an ex girlfriend who he lived with for 7 years about 10 years ago because she recently had been going through a really tough time and he happened to run into her at friends store a few weeks ago. Normally I would be ok with this but I have dated several men before, two who were narcs and they all insisted in keeping "friendships" with exs. I am not comfortable with this for several reasons. Mainly because they were engaged and only broke up because she had spending problems and had been molested by her stepfather and was having emotional problems that she refused to seek help for. I was not there of course but this is what I have been told by a couple of reliable sources. Otherwise he said that he was happy with her and had no bad feeling toward her. I want to discuss this with him but am not sure if I should. Part of me fears that I may have overlooked something. I am terrified of ending up with another narc. I am hoping someone will have some experience or advice they can give me. Thank you for reading this and offering any advice you may have.
