Boundaries for the Empaths, and relationships between Narcisists and Empaths

I found an article about the relationships between Narcisists and Empaths, and how these two types blend together in a "crazy dance".

Also, what I found more interesting is a list of boundaries for the Empaths, who are very close to Codependents in some ways, because they feel too much. And mostly feel somebody else`s feelings, and put that person needs first, instead of their own.

Here are some examples:

- I hang out with positive people and people whose attitudes are more similiar to mine when I’m alone. I stay far away from negative people and drama queens, if I can.

- If I’m inclined to make a quick decision, I stop to ask myself if this is in-line with my wants, needs, dreams, personality. If I get a hell-yes from inside with no tiny niggling doubt, then it’s usually a good quick decision. If I’m overwhelmed by the feeling to say yes but something inside is contradictory in any way, then I’m likely being swayed by someone else’s enthusiasm and not my own. This is such a matter of boundaries!"

The second link, is about discovering the traits of an Empath, and if you find yourself in the traits, what can you do to implement better boundaries with yourself and others, so you can avoid being a "target" for toxic people and creeps of all kind.

Here are some traits:

- Empaths have a hard time understanding cruelty and criminal acts that involves hurting others.

- Empaths are super sensitive to suffering in the world and are often idealists who theorise about fixing the worlds problems.

- Are often found working as volunteers, with people, animals or the environment.

- Empaths are often drawn to areas of music or the arts.

- Can seem very moody with drastic mood swings. This is mainly due to picking up the emotions of others without realizing it and then with those emotions reacting to others."

The last one here rings especially true for me. When in the presence of Narcisists or toxic people, Empaths often absorb the emotions of those around them, so they become a "mirror", transforming themselfs into someone always anxious, angry, hateful, CRAZY. Just like the Narc.

I think Empaths are "walking treasure supply" for Narcs, and often get heavy exploited and drained. All the "Light" is taken away, into the Dark Hole, that is the soulless Narcisist.

There are also many, many comments there that I could totally identify with, and maybe it helps you too. Being an Empath, a natural giver, and not losing those qualities, we gotta be able to protect ourselfs and implement boundaries, without feeling guilty.
