Help, I'm stuck on Family of Origin Issues

Like most of us here, I'm convinced my issues and my addiction to the N is based on family of origin issues. For the life of me though, I'm really stuck on remembering much of my childhood and identifying what those issues and/or events were. Further, once they are identified, how do I relate them to the present? Can anyone please offer some advice on this? Thank you so much for helping me!
