I am 56. He is 57. Was D & D Sept. 2010 after 33 years of marriage. Left for OW who is 38 with 10 year old son halfway across the country. My story is unbelieveable.

I have been dealing with them my entire life as well. Did not make the connection until I realized that my Dad was a Psychopath/Narc. Back in the day our poor Moms just put up with their crap. He was just awful and no one knew why or what he was. Our family vacations consisted of trips to NH, VT, and ME to go to auctions and antiques shops because that's what he wanted to do. Can you imagine taking 4 small children on such a trip for 2 weeks at a whack? He also would make us all stay in the car while he and my mom went into the restaurant to eat their dinner. Who does that? And the rages were legendary. OMG. I was preened to put up with Narc crap. Scary.

I'm 22 and he is 31. We were 19 and 28 respectively when we met.
Always good to think about the prime years of youth being wasted on assholes like these. Also, it forces you to grow up way too fast. I see my friends delusionally in love and preparing for the future, with husbands and kids and what not, and all I can hope for is to find someone who doesn't completely emotionally abuse me anymore. At this point I don't even hope for happiness, just peace.

When I first met the ex-Psych prof, he was 32 and I was 18. At the final D&D, he was 36 and I was 22. He was 36, and his girlfriend was 31. So much for Ns/Ps who dump older women for younger partners. The naive college graduate was replaced with the experienced curator, go figure.
It's been 11 years since the final D&D, I am now 33 and he's going to turn 50 in 2013.
