Rage of this type is much more serious than narcissisim. If you are still in the same house with this person you need to leave right away. If you are asking this question of people who know narcissists well they don't have that much interest in other people to kill them. You might have been close to a psychopath or other type of disorder who rages internally often over nothing. If this type of person has no impulse control or is losing control there might be a problem.

He never raged, he just said he had thoughts about wanting to kill someone. I just thought this was strange when thinking back on the conversation.
We broke up a month ago, I doubt he will be contacting me again.
it sometimes is their way of saying "I did kill someone and no one's caught me yet - so watch out YOU MAY BE NEXT."
