psych evaluation

Quick question. My lawyer wants STBXNH to have a psych eval. My STBXNH knows that he has been diagnosed as a N. How hard is it for them to manipulate the outcome of these kinds of tests??????

make sure the Psychologist KNOWS he knows and that he is VERY manipulative. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Free articles & information for abuse victims: http://abusesanctuary.blogspot.com Effective Coaching for Victims of Pathologicals http://one2one4victims.webs.com/

I Don't Know BUT

MOST (I'm assuming and hoping) phychiatrists/therapists can read people pretty well. The experiences I've had with my ex-N's in therapy (yes, there's been more than one N in my past) is that they eventually talk themselves into a corner. The therapist was able to read their "double talk" and evaluate their behavior pretty accurately. If the evaluation is being done by someone fairly competent, you don't have to worry. Heck, the FACT that there is going to be an evaluation at ALL says something, YES???

most therapists, etc really do not know much about psychopaths & narcissists. They get duped by them all the time. But Mallory's Narc? Is an extra-special kind of evil. And an obvious one. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Free articles & information for abuse victims: http://abusesanctuary.blogspot.com Effective Coaching for Victims of Pathologicals http://one2one4victims.webs.com/

I'm so glad your getting the eval done. I, too am awaiting psych eval of my STBXNH. I have to be evaluated by the same psychologist and I hope she'll take a history from me. Just FYI. I listed out some specific examples I wanted to know if I should inform the psychologist of for Barbara to look through and she was very helpful as to what I should make clear to the evaluator. I think its clear what kind of behavior makes your N more on the extreme side of psycopath. I've also heard the dr. Might perform the MMPI - a personality inventory. It is 700 questions but some ?s are the same just worded differently so they can see if the client is manipulating or answering consistently. BTW- my N recently informed me that he doesn't have to take the court ordered psych eval b/c chilrens services is going to testify against me and "probably going to take her away from you"(meaning our daughter). This is example of their twisted coping mechanisms. nolongercontrolled

feel free to share that list with mallory! my N recently informed me that he doesn't have to take the court ordered psych eval b/c chilrens services is going to testify against me and "probably going to take her away from you"(meaning our daughter). This is example of their twisted coping mechanisms. LOL - is he living in a parallel universe? Of course he is - he's N. He will have to take the psych eval and children's services never testifies against a parent unless there is BLATANT abuse. He's in for a big surprise. As you said their twisted coping mechanisms makes them say the most outrageous bullcrap. Good that you are not listening or believing ANY of it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Free articles & information for abuse victims: http://abusesanctuary.blogspot.com Effective Coaching for Victims of Pathologicals http://one2one4victims.webs.com/

Wow, that's great that you get the eval. It is my understanding that a diagnosis does make a huge impact with the judge In custody situations. I will be very surprised if you don't get sole custody, especially with all of the s*** he has pulled with moving in the gf, etc. He is setting himself up for disaster. These n's are manipulative, but not very smart. It Is sort of like dealing with a bratty 5-year-old. They are easily distracted and are unable to delay their gratification or keep it together for a liitle while until something gives. I used to say that living with my h was like watching someone run head-first into a brick wall over and over again. He just keeps sabotaging himself. He can't get outside of himself long enough to THINK. He just reacts and does really dumb things all the time. He is incapable of learning from his mistakes like most people. Watch him self-destruct.

Dcrutche

the eval may not diagnose them but it does look at their ability to be alone with the children. In the case of Mallory's jerk, this dude shouldn't be alone with a plant let alone children. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Free articles & information for abuse victims: http://abusesanctuary.blogspot.com Effective Coaching for Victims of Pathologicals http://one2one4victims.webs.com/
