Oh, The Cars

How could I forget the other film passion is to watch cars speeding around and causing accidents. He could get on the PC and watch the same car race over and over and over. I suspect a couple thousand pound car represents a few things for them. Power they do not have, a really big weapon that could take someone out and better yet! Dual purpose, serves as a chick magnet. Often Narcs enjoy speeding and breaking the law. I know mine did and I am fairly positive he will meet his end doing it--driving way too fast and aggressive. Chances are very good he will take someone out with him when he does. This is so stupid, another reason I could not enable him in all good conscience. Hurting me is one thing, hurting innocent people is another.

Addicted to it

The ex-Psych was addicted to TV and books... they were his way to escape from humanity. He thought he was SO COOL because he'd do recaps of the latest Simpsons episode at the beginning of class. He was also proud of the fact that he had seen just about every movie/miniseries version of "War and Peace"... saying his favorite "is the one with Hannibal Lecter" (Anthony Hopkins starred in a BBC miniseries of it) I think he spent his time watching TV&eating junk food. His love handles gave it away.

fun to read these posts

Mine was in to cars and watched Barrett Jackson too. I actually got to like old cars and one summer we went to an old car show in the intense heat of the summer. we spent all day walking around in100 degree temps and i was his personal secretary, writing things down about each car while he took a photo of each one. I finally had to ask him togo inside as I was ready to drop from heat exhaustion.now i realize all the times i was an object, to him, sex, admin. assistant, etc, whatever was useful to him at the time!

I can't believe how my boyfriend controlled the tv too!!!

My financially successful boyfriend and mechanical engineer...(mechanical engineers are wired differently from other folks) watched 6 hrs. of tv every nite. He would never give me the option to watch what I wanted. He was fine with me sitting next to him and being bored. He was semi-retired and wealthy, so he could afford to watch this much tv daily. I thought he was controlling and addicted to tv. Now, it seems from reading these forum comments, that it is part of being an N...If I nicely asked once every 2 wks. to watch one program I would like, he got upset and would say, we do watch what you like. We watch my programs together. This became a big conflict between us for 2 yrs. I resented him for caring more about his programs than me. If I got to watch one 2 hr. program, he would leave me alone to watch it while he went upstairs to review his stocks or email his family. I was suppose to join him in watching his programs, yet I was left alone to watch mine. How fun is that?? He watched mainly reality shows and lived his life through all the drama. I think the shows are immature and brainless...a waste of time! N's like drama. He had 8 tv's in his house (in every room like...bathrooms, and outdoor patio, garage..sick..Even movies we saw at the theater were his choice. He would never ask me for my desires. He referred to himself as the captain everyday...I am making the decision for this or that because I am the captain!! This is so old school and disrespectful. We broke up over a wk. ago...Now I know I am not alone in this experience.

Crazy with the TV

He watched only what he wanted to watch as if there were not two people there! It was really shocking behavior to me! I have never seen anyone ever be so selfish and rude in my life and believe me, I have had some bad boyfriends. If I told him a show was too stupid for me and said we needed to watch something else, he would get really really miffed and sigh very deeply, annoyed about have to consider my feelings...He would stare blankly at me and then sometimes very reluctantly give in or sometimes just ignore me! If there was something I wanted to watch, he made me go upstairs to watch it on a different floor of the house - banished me! He was a car nut too - what is it with Narcs and cars?! Yes we had to watch stupid cars go in a circle! My brain almost went dormant from my years with him...he would watch good movies sometimes and comedy, but again there was just ZERO interest in my thoughts, opinions or what might make me happy - I was like a non-person to him and I was to go along with his gig or get out. With his male buddies, he was very accommodating, acted almost normal... It was like being in hell as a prisoner for years watching TV with him in his man den...

NASCAR..NASCAR..NASCAR.

NASCAR..NASCAR..NASCAR. Barrett Jackson auction.. Pimp My Ride..Dumbest Stuff on Wheels..Top Gear...punctuated with The Voice..So You Think You Can Dance..X Factor..America's Got Talent..American Idol.. Yeh BRILLIANT stuff. He falls asleep during a lot of it but holds onto the remote. Can't change the channel or he wakes up and has a fit. BTW He HOARDS TV's. 3 in the livingroom as we speak...too heavy for me to move. He put one in my son's room but put my son's on the floor (too heavy for me to move) And 3 more coming different sources. He has excuses for keeping them all. His excuse for not storing them in the garage...too crowded (he's hoarded computers/stereos/speakers dressers, couches, papers/mail/photos, nascar memorabilia, coats...blah blah blah)

What IS it with these jerks

What IS it with these jerks and the car fixations? Xnh was heavily into this, too. It was NASCAR everything, and he could watch Barret Jackson for HOURS. We actually got into huge fights several times because xnh decided that he wanted to quit his full-time job so that he could go to NASCAR driving school (at age 50). Xnh wants to be either a race driver or rock star when he grows up. Since, he'll never grow up, neither "career" will ever be achieved. lol. According to xnh, the most wonderful birthday present he EVER received was when his mommy bought him tickets to drive an old Dale Earnhardt NASCAR car on a track at Disney World. He watches the video of himself driving about 10 laps over and over and over again. He's pathetic. Xnh was, also, the only person that I've ever known who LOVED to go into the car dealers just for fun. We'd be out supposedly to have a fun day on the town, and HE would drag me to the Ford dealer so he could ogle the new Mustangs and talk car crap with the dealers. B-O-R-I-N-G!! When I go into a car dealer on my own, I go because I need another car. I want get something that works for me, at a decent price, and if I get left sitting in front of the financial office for too long, I get the almost uncontrollable urge to barf while I'm waiting, thinking about the payments. Car shopping for me is NOT an enjoyable "sport" like it is for xnh. lol. Xnh constantly talked about cars. He was so obsessed about them that even his oldest, hideous P daughter referred to him as a "car spaz". She nailed it with that one about xnh.

"car spaz" I'm laughing so

"car spaz" I'm laughing so hard. The pimp/NARC actually races stock car. Apparently 15 years ago he got banned from the track because he and his then "wife" were sleeping with everyone, other drivers, their wives, fans, trophy girls. Somebody was going to get shot. Marriages were on the line. He's convinced them that's he's a new man through Jesus. So he's allowed back. I have a hunk of metal in my drive way called a race car. yeh..hours and hours on car lots. I commented lastnight lower down on the thread...see if it doesn't ring a bell when you read it. "car spaz" I'm gonna steal that.

Oh no, don't get me started on the TV situation

For the first year while he was kisssing my ass we primarily watch what I wanted; which of course were also all of his favorite shows. Then the second year after several D&D's of course it all changed, we had to watch the CAR SHOWS, jeeze, I never knew there were so many car shows and of course Pickers, Pawn Stars and any other show he could find about finding, buying, and selling stuff. Most likely so he could learn the value of things for his drug activity. So basically he would work on cars all day at work and then come home and watch car shows all the time. He read car magazine while on the hopper. He used to shout out the year make and model of cars he saw when we were driving around until one day, I thought I was going to snap from it, and told him to shut the F. up. That was the last we heard of the year make and model of cars he saw driving down the road. I read somewhere that they get fixated on certain things and that their interests are very limited to a few interests. Usually porn, some certain type of sexual activity, or certain type of women (this is regarding their fixations; not the fact that they will sleep with anyone who is willing and able behind your back). Same way with the food. He liked cheese and put cheese on top of EVERYTHING. I found it revolting. Big giant gobs of cheese on even the most beautiful of meals. Every single time we went out he had to order Alfredo or Parm. He ate just like a two year old, would only eat what he liked and nothing else. Never saw him eat fruit or vegetables unless they were covered in cheese. Creepy!!! God bless, Goldie

OMG! He bombards me with

OMG! He bombards me with INANE car facts ..nonstop!! And he talks in his important "EXPERT VOICE". He drives through EVERY car lot between where ever we've left and where ever we're going! Stopping...backing up..going forward..stopping...looking...backing the F up.."informing" me about the year make and model of the vehicles!Car trivia! UGH!!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes he'll get out and ask a salesman questions and then answers them himself before the sales man can open his mouth."What's under the hood?...a 357?" "What year is it?...a 99...the year they started putting fuel injection in ALL of them" SHOW OFF! An example his nonstop yapping about cars and I know this isn't exact but it goes like," That's a 1978 mustang SS. They only made 3900 in that colour. Most people call it burgundy but the CORRECT name is Maroon. There are only 400 left in existence. I almost bought one. You can't get the stock rims anymore. That car would be worth $10,000 more if it had the rims. Most people don't know that there was mistake at the factory because a worker was hungover the colour was supposed to darker. They only made BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH" I swear he breathes through his ass when he's talking about cars. I HATE CARS NOW

I am the same

I was never big into cars anyway, I go for the person, not the car. He would even ask me when I was talking about someone I knew. What do they drive. He gets a hard on over being able to attract people with his cars or car knowledge. What a superficial freak. As if these girls care about him at all, they don't care, they just like to control and impress and they don't care what the person feels as long as they have someone attractive on their arm. Now I do not want to hear one word about cars. I have heard enough to last me a lifetime. My father also a narc was a mechanic as well and he never talked about cars to that extent. Many people like to leave their job behind when they are done, not this one. I don't think I am capable of ever dating anyone who wants to talk about cars more than a mere mention of what they drive. Just more creepy reasons to stay away from these FREAKS!!! God bless, Goldie

Mine was the opposite

We didnt watch much tv at all, he was too busy on the computer in chatrooms flirting and carrying on with the women....If I dared to stay up and watch 5 minutes of tv without him, he would pout and shut me out for days......so immature..If he did decide to watch something, he would wait until like 5 minutes before it was to go off, then decide it was bedtime....off went the tv and you lost out on seeing the end of the show. Was all about control with him.

TV

Mine was a channel surfer, three or four shows at once, how much fun is that? And they all had to be blood and gore. Never watched a romance or comedy ever. And if any show got romantic or showed some emotion he would switch to another. I can now watch what I want, from the beginning to the end.

This was exactly like xnh.

This was exactly like xnh. It was most annoying to have him switch channels every five seconds. Xnh had such humongous control issues. He also guarded the remote control just like it was some kind of family heirloom. He would literally sit on it so that I couldn't use it. I swear if it had occurred to him to shove it up his butt in order to hide it, he would have tried it. Uck. Like you, I can now enjoy watching what I want from beginning to end.

Your post reminded me of

Your post reminded me of something my daughters Father use to do. Funny, I am not even on here because of him.........but he had narcissistic qualities as well. He use to come home from work, I would be watching the news, while dinner was in the oven, he would walk over, pick up the clicker, change the channel to anything other than what I was watching, put it in his shirt pocket and walk away. Go into another room and not give me back the clicker. I didn't put up with it for long, I took the batteries out of the remote before he would get home, so he couldn't do that anymore. I was young, stupid, who knows........my girlfriends were just talking about that just the other night. Needless to say, we split before my daughter turned 3. As Hunter would say, Hark, Hark, I see a Narc.

TV

Yes, he watched wrestling......yes, you read that correctly. His whole Jerry Springer family watches that crap. We had more than one TV. I went into the bedroom most nights & watched something I liked. Sometimes, he would tell me to pick out something for us to watch. Then he would criticize & belittle anything I suggested. He would then tell me that I like to watch mindless dribble. Seriously?? What do you think wrestling is??

Gad

Gad, yes! After forcibly moving himself into my home, he commandeered everything I owned--t.v. & the remote being primary. The hateful user spent every possible hour lying in my bed, screaming at news programs, sports, and NASCAR ("Kill him!" ""Stupid, f___ing b_tch!" "Slam that m_ther-f_cker into a wall!"). I feared he'd get me evicted. He also wanted me to sit next to him for his t.v. tirades, laughed at requests I made to watch anything, had to have the t.v. on full-blast all night, and would pitch fits if the remote was even removed from his hand when he was asleep.

no nascar

Just cartoons and re runs of mash. OVER and OVER. I thought I would die from boredom. This guy brags about how brilliant he is in his profession. Cartoons. Cartoons? Old TV reruns like Dick Van Dyke and commented how he liked that the couple slept in separate beds. Hm. Never wanted me to sleep with him. Said he couldn't sleep with anyone. So on the rare occasion he finally did OFFER to let me stay - he knew I was getting fed up with the fuck and get lost routine of his. The cartoons OMFG Mary Tyler Moore Bob Newhart. Holy shit I thought I would literally flip out from boredom. I would take Nascar any day of the wk over that shit
