I discovered this while I was surfing the web for PTSD info:

Have any of you tried it? Is it legit?

Thanks guys. I think I will try it. At worst, I suppose it wouldn't hurt, even if it does nothing.

EMDR is now considered standard therapy for PTSD

When EMDR first came out it was rightly regarded with skepticism and considered an "alternative therapy." Now that it has been proven effective in a sufficient number of double blind trials, however, it is no longer considered alternative. The APA and the Veterans Administration both include it in their therapy guidelines for PTSD, as do numerous international health organizations who treat victims of war and torture. That doesn't guarantee it will work for everyone, but right now it is considered the most effective first course of treatment for PTSD. I'm sorry it didn't work for you pilker, and I hope you were able to find something that did. I would caution you against Quackwatch though, Stephen Bennett is the worst kind of narcissist (see http://www.americanchiropractic.net/chiropractic/Quack%20Buster%20busted%20-%20Dr%20S%20Barrett.pdf for details). If you want to look up a procedure to see if it is legitimate, I recommend the Mayo Clinic website, or WebMD.

58 and going - What is

Rapid Resolution Therapy? Is it the same as Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy? Glad it worked so well for you.

Horse hockey

I tried it, maybe 5-6 sessions, and it did absolutely nothing. Some could get a placebo effect, though, I suppose. Later I came across this: http://www.quackwatch.com/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/mentserv.html

EMDR for PTSD

My therapist used this on me to help me get past certain triggering events. I have to say it did seem to help the physical symptoms of PTSD such as tightness in the chest.

EMDR

It's a technique to access the subconscious. Personally, I think Hypnotherapy is more effective.
